Okay, so I've been a little angry at Razer over their sh!tty headsets. Maybe I'm unlucky, but the Piranha died on me in 2 weeks, one side went dead, forgot which. Ordered the Barracuda afterwards because I wasn't so thrilled with the Piranha in the first place, and now the left ear piece basically snapped right off. I don't know if it's my luck, or if it's Razer's QC, but I'm definitely not going down the same route, not even for the new Carcharias that looks so promising. This time, I'm going to get the Sennheiser PC151 or PC161. I checked them out at J&R, they both look pretty comfortable, and are available at $39.99 and $54.99 respectively.
I was looking at the specs online and on the actual package, and nowhere did it say that the mic on the 161 was noise canceling. I want the larger earcups, because my big head probably won't get along with the small cups on the 151, but mic clarity is of utmost importance here because I've recently started to use Ventrilo and Teamspeak a lot. The package and Amazon state that the 151 has a noise cancelling mic. I'm afraid that the 161 will give me a lot of static or background noise if the mic isn't noise cancelling.
