CAMM2 memories, why aren't they better than DIMMs?

First benchmarks show little longer latencies and slower read, write, copy, than ordinary DIMM modules. But these results are actually contrary to expectations. There is so much hype about these RAM's with supposedly shorter wiring and supposedly shorter latencies...
More here.

Shorter traces will help in higher memory frequencies. Latency is mainly determined by the timings of the memory itself. It will probably be a few years before CAMM2 takes off, if ever.

The bad part about CAMM2 is going to be the dual-rank stuff. No way to cool the underside really, its totally going to overheat at higher speeds and voltages.

Maybe somebody will create a backside cooler & mobo that will be able to this ? Similar to what is happening with the wiring connector changes right now....

Remember: when there is a will, there is a way !

Doesn't seem to have much value at all for desktop, anyway.

The LPDDR5x CAMM options are an interesting proposition for laptops.

so the original CAMM is better than CAMM2?
