My current GPU has a problem as it does not want to boot using UEFI, it says that it has a UEFI support on GPU-Z. If it try changing the boot mode in BIOS to UEFI it boots and gives me a display that says my GPU has no GOP and it automatically switches back to CSM/UEFI, for more context my Windows install is already ready for UEFI. My current GPU is a AMD Radeon RX 580 8GB from Gigabyte. I plan to upgrade to the RTX 4060 as it is what is available in my region and is all my budget allows for now, but I know I have to use DDU to remove the AMD drivers before I use the new card my problem is if the RTX 4060 cannot boot using CSM/Legacy how will I be able to switch the boot mode as it is not an option with my current card, because it will just switch it back to CSM to boot. I have integrated graphics which I also cannot use now as they also require UEFI and are not at all usable, I do not know if there is a way I could have my pc boot with integrated?

Can't you DDU your Radeon drivers, then change the settings from CSM to UEFI and then shut off the PC to swap cards without it rebooting and reverting to CSM by itself?

I have not really read about being able to switch off the pc as many people say it is bad I don't really know but I have also thought of that. The people on the forum basically said that restart and shutdown function different on win 10+ so I don't know if it is a bad thing or a good thing, but I will check I think I have screenshots of my BIOS.

The BIOS screenshots I have do not show the controls so I will just check if I can search the BIOS online to check.

So it turns out that the MSI BIOS just has an option to save and exit and afterwards restarts the PC.

Thank you. Is there any other way you know of to fix it?

Yes, after hitting save and exit it will reboot. However you can interrupt it by pressing power on your case while still in the POST to shut it down. As long as it doesn't start loading Windows it shouldn't revert your settings.

The simplest option would be to find a UEFI-compatible VBIOS for your RX 580, and flash it. This would mean the 580 would now support both CSM and UEFI, so after the flash is done you could go into your motherboard BIOS and set it to UEFI, reboot, and the system would now run in full UEFI mode. Then installing the 4060 would be a straight swap-out.

Isnt there a way in BIOS to set my iGPU as the preffered GPU?

I can also remove the CMOS battery to reset the BIOS after uninstalling the drivers.

There Should be an option to force IGPU as the main display adapter. You did not list your mobo. Technically Windows should force use the IGPU but yet its Microsoft :D. Windows has a habit of disabling my RX470 and forcing my IGPU HD 2500 >.<

Sorry I forgot to mention it it is a MSI A620M-E, and I have a ryzen 5 7600 so windows is not using the iGPU, because my BIOS is in CSM/Legacy and I believe the iGPU also requires UEFI to work. But I will look for the option to force iGPU.

Edit:
Windows does detect my iGPU in device manager, but the following is the image displayed.

I have tried it and ended up bricking my GPU so I don't want to try it again as there is not a good guide for my specific vendor card.

Would it work if I use DDU and then remove the GPU and reset the BIOS by removing the CMOS battery, as I believe it will set the BIOS mode to UEFI and then I would be able to put in the new GPU and boot?
