Hi

I am looking for a new phone. My old one Honor 8x become very slow although I use only 60% from the storage space. I need the new phone fast enough and good screen in range of $150

Thanks

I bought a used Huawei Nova 10 for $93 after rocking zactly the same Honor 8X. Improvements are massive. If you can get an 11 go for it, essentially the same stuff but with a better battery (only possible on second hand market if we wanna stay under $150).

Take a look at Blackview. It's a brand of cheap, but reliable rugged phones, although they have a few normal models at highly affordable prices as well.

The only catch is that it might not be available at stores in your area, so you might have to order on their own website from a HK warehouse.

The OP hasn't been around for 2 weeks, but without knowing their country or at least general region it's hard to make a good recommendation.

With ~$150 USD on hand I would personally buy a certified mint condition iPhone X. It no longer receives the latest iOS feature updates, but should still be a much snappier and generally more capable than a super low end, carrier unlocked Android device from a major manufacturer like Samsung.

Beware of imports, you need to look up if it passes regulatory requirements for your country (may result in the phone being seized at customs) and if it has frequency band compatibility in your region, otherwise you won't be able to use 4G/LTE or 5G connection with some carriers, or have no signal available in some regions.

A good site to check that is kimovil's frequency checker

Refurbished phones also drastically lessen the impact the mobile phone industry has on the environment and electronic waste.

Chinese smartphone companies generally score very poorly in terms of ecological footprint compared to smartphone companies from other countries.

Yeah, in addition to contributing with the environment and avoiding a perfectly good device from its fate in a landfill, if you get a refurbished phone that comes from a reputable company you will end up with a much better device, too. Special attention to the "mint condition" devices that are usually just demo units for shopping malls that spend their entire life just there being displayed, no one touches them, they aren't really used, the most that happens is that their battery has degraded and needs a replacement.

When I got my iPhone Xs Max the battery was at 80% health. Gold colored, 256 GB unit, that I paid basically peanuts for when compared to a latest generation device, and it's still way better than a super low cost Android of similar price. I just took it to the Apple Store and had it serviced with a new, Apple genuine battery. Yes, it was an additional expense that must be accounted for, but in general, not a complete deal-breaker and more of perfectionism on my part. Phone was returned to me within an hour or two. I basically dropped it there, went to the nearby steakhouse for some grub, and got it back good as new.

People may hate on Apple for many reasons but customer experience is one thing I will never fault them for.

Refurbished is really the way to go. I got my S22 from eBay last year for $300 and it's been lovely. The phone arrived in like-new condition. Again, location is very important, so that'd really help us find you a good phone. If I had to suspect, I don't think we're talking North America because Honor phones (and most other Chinese phones) are darn near unheard of here.

Thanks all for all suggestions. Seems customs people heard me, they changed polices so it is more difficult now to buy from abroad

Buy an unlocked phone. I have a motorolla from 22.

Where are you located? Because issue is recommending a phone that you might need to import.

I imported my own Vivo iQoo Neo 9s Pro+ last year in September and I love it, great standby time, battery life (for my usage), design.

I feel this is the best android I have had to date plus I can use my country specified apps not just net banking apps but other authentication apps aswell this is why I cannot root my phone they are a pain to get running when using root.

Look for Moto G power 2023 or 2024 (Amazon). The specs are quite honest, I don't think there's anything much better in this price range. Motorola (Lenovo) has now adopted a more consistent OS update policy.
