Hello. I have an XFX RX 560 4GB card I want to try and use as a Hackintosh. it's well-known in the community that most XFX cards cannot be used out of the box due to XFX ROMs. However, I would like to flash mine to a Sapphire-based ROM. The problem is that with every attempt to run "atiflash -i" "I get the response "Adapter not found".

Board: Gigabyte GA-Z68AP-D3. I'm running a UEFI instead of the traditional DOS-based BIOS interface. Under Peripherals I have "Init Display First" set to PEG (PCI Graphics) with the other options being Auto, IGFX, and PCI. My monitor is a Samsung SyncMaster 930b with DVI and VGA inputs. My motherboard has only an HDMI port for video. So far I can have the monitor hooked up to the RX 560 and get video, but of course I get "adapter not found". Now my mobo also has a x4 PCIe slot which I have tried, but I also get the same result.

Thinking that perhaps the card must not have any connections to be flashed, I changed the UEFI to use the on-board video instead (and have the HDMI port occupied by an HDMI-to-DVI cable which goes to my monitor). I can get graphics that way to get to the FreeDOS screen, but again when I try "atiflash -i" I get "Adapter not found". Why is it so difficult to even get the motherboard to see the card, even when the card is plugged in to the PCIe slot and I can see graphics using the same card? I have another board, a gigabyte H270M-D3H that uses a Sapphire RX580 Nitro+, but I shouldn't have to change boards. Am I doing something obviously wrong or missing a step?

This guy went from a 480to a 580, and went from XFX to Sapphire. Yet at the same time, this thread says it's not possible: https://www.techpowerup.com/forums/...-bios-to-different-brand-like-saphire.217268/

That doesn't explain why it still says "Adapter not found". I also did just try this on my main rig, and got the same results (used the RX 560's DisplayPort connector)

Well ask for help there then because changing from a XFX to a sapphire bios usually doesn't work anyway, you'll break your card.

If anything learn how to modify your existing bios since it works.

Allright, I appreciate you letting me know. I was going to post it on Reddit but figured I'd post here first since I'm using the software that came from this site. I'll check over there.

My initial issue was not getting atiflash.exe to recognize my card in the first place. If that were possible, then I could go on to attempting to flash it.
