Good day! I've been playing Civ V for sometime now and lately it's been crashing. It either just locks up and I have to open task manager to exit the game or it shows me a message in windows that says "Civilization V has stopped working". It only happens on the latter parts when I'm in the "Future Tech" era and most of the map is explored/populated/conquered, right when I'm close to finishing a game. I've tried re-installing drivers and the game but nothing's worked so far. I've tried the WHQL drivers starting from 12.8 and I've used the AMD Cleanup Utility whenever I switched to a different driver. I'm on 13.4 atm.

Step 1. Lose any overclocks and try playing again.
Step 2. Re-install the game and try playing again.
Step 3. Test your memory

I dont think it's gpu related as that game doesn't stress a gpu (A bum gpu would more then likely give a better indication that it's the problem), so I'm guessing a bad OC or bad memory.

CPU/RAM overclocked?

The CPU is overclocked atm but it happens even on stock clocks. I only OCed it yesterday for WCG. It's at 4.5ghz, 1.23v and it is stable after 10 passes with IntelBurnTest and WCG. RAM is at stock clocks, 1600mhz 9-9-9-24.

I did try re-installing the game twice, first using the disc and second through steam.

I'll try defaulting the BIOS again to stock settings just to make sure.

That window will gives you details can tell you what library file in particular crashed. More often than not it's the AMD driver for CFX that crashes on me. I too play Civ 5 and have had the occasional crash. Sometimes it happens early, sometimes it happens late, something it doesn't happen at all.
