Hi yall,
two years ago i bought a Clevo P150EM (prostar Branded) second hand. I really love this old peace of laptop and wanted to upgrade the GTX670m.
So i bought a GTX980M from China on Aliexpress stating that it was compatible with all laptop like clevo, alienware etc...
When i put the card inside the laptop, it beeps for 30s (one beep every second) and shuts down.
I did upgrade the bios and EC of the laptop with the lastest of Eurocom :
EC V 1.02.11EC
BIOS V1.02.17EC v3b GTX9
and when i plug the card in the laptop, the bios says that it is a NVidia card, but it stills beeps for 30s and shuts down.
I checked the temps with my finger and it never gets the chance to be hot. The fans are new and spinning.
I can boot into windows, even log into my account but it shuts down before i can do anything.
I tried to flash the Vbios with one for GTX980M specific from Clevo, but NVflash (dos version) does not recognize the card, even with instructions that would force the bios to be updated.
By the way the GTX670M is still working great.
So my question is : is the GPU dead ?
Or is there a way to bypass the shutdown so i can investigate further inside windows ?
Is there a magical trick i am not aware of ?
Thanks.
