Concerning noises on multiple motherboards, same CPU (7800X3D)

Hello, first post ever here.

I'm having some issues (non-issues?) using my PC, I hear a concerning noise coming from the CPU area of my motherboard(s), I'm posting a video at the bottom, not my video, but the noise is the same from what I can tell.

The noise only happens when I'm booted into Windows, moving my mouse or otherwise putting a synthetic / heavy load on the CPU heavily reduces (changes the frequency into an inaudible range?) the sound. The PC is otherwise fully stable from what I can tell, I've not ran EXPO much, but from what little I did use it worked fine. In BIOS or before POST the noise is is absent.

As mentioned in the title, I first noticed the noise on an ASUS X670E TUF PLUS motherboard, when I was moving the motherboard into a new case, I had to pry a stand-off from the motherboard, I made sure to do so carefully, I did scratch up the board a little bit though - this noise has been noticed to be happening since I did this. I thought I ruined the motherboard, so I bought a new one, an MSI MEG X670E Tomahawk - the noise persists, exactly the same as far as I can tell. I've also tried 3 different high quality PSU's (Seasonic Focus GX1000, Corsair 1000 SHIFT and now a Super Flower Leadex 850W. The noise STILL persists.

I have a hunch it's coil whine, and it's harmless, but to tell you the truth, I bought this PC with the mindset of "I'm not buying new hardware for 15 years if I can get away with it" so I'm worried the noise I'm hearing is deteriorating the CPU (other components?). As I said, everything is stable and working nominally for 3 months-ish. I've taken the PC to 2 seperate repair shops, and 9 people in total cannot hear the sound I describe. I've tried plugging the PC into an outlet on the other side of the residence and another residence neighbouring mine.

I'm at a total loss with my troubleshooting skills and I'm completely ignorant in terms of electricity knowledge. Any help would be appreciated!

Additional note: I've rebuilt the PC numerous times, no cables are loose, I've tried to isolate every component (removing GPU, one stick of RAM at a time, stopping all fans while the noise is happening)

PC specs:

mobo: MSI MEG Tomahawk X670E
RAM: GSkill TridentZ CL30 6000MT/s
GPU: RX 7900XT
PSU: Super Flower Leadex 850W
Storage: Samsung 990 Pro M.2, Samsung QVO SATA SSD

That doesn't sound like coil whine that I am familiar with. Almost sounds more like there is electric current being dissipated through your case because it's not grounded. Have you had any electrical issues elsewhere in your house?

None that I can tell of, ever since getting this PC I've noticed all PSU's in the house make a different sort of sound when plugged into a wall outlet when a specific set of lights that are on a potenciometer are switched on in the house. It doesn't seem to have an effect on the Motherboard noise though. I'm posting a video detailing the issue a little bit.

They make the same sort of sound (at like 60hz or something?) so that's also an oddity. But I'm 90% sure this was happening BEFORE the actual sound I'm posting about started happening. If the lights are off there's no effect.

PC is OFF in the video, the noise comes from the PSU (in fact every PSU I own)

EDIT: Also, the motherboard(s) have been removed and put into multiple cases and it's also been tested on a wood table with no other materials surrounding it.

Thanks for the reply.

Easy way to test that. Unplug case fans
Cpu fan and case fans, since user would have to open the psu to disconnect that fan, maybe run system on igp to remove gpu fan out of equation

100% Sure its not a fan, the power supply I used at one point had a fan off mode, Ive also unplugged all other fans. That was my first guess. Its an electrical noise though.

As mentioned Ive isolated all the components, its not the gpu, ive tried running igpu only. Same noise.

None of the periphrals I use are wireless, Ive tried only having a power cord plugged in. Ive not even used the mobos wifi even once. One of the mobos that makes this sound does not even have wifi.

What kind of bulbs and have you tried different bulbs?

Want noise free, turn the lights off?

Seems pretty straight forward here I think??

But did you unplug the cpu fan?

I will mention this, unless if you start having bsods/whea errors relating to cpu/memory addresses, dont worry about it. If you start to then worry about it.

They dont have anything to do with each other. Its a different phenomenon altogether. All psus in the house make a different noise than what this thread is about. Still, could indicate a power issue in the house, but im unsure.

Topic is about motherboard noise, that happens regardless whether the lights are off or on, and only happens on this pc with this cpu / motherboards.

Im almost at the point of just living with it after 9 people fail to hear the noise, which is funny as MY hearing is not the best. Thought id check on a forum or two with potentially more knowledable users than me anyway.

I didnt actually unplug it actually, stopped it with fingers, but it cant be the fan as the noise is absent in BIOS, but present in Windows. Same fan rpm.

Oh, sorry for that. Got thrown off topic by further reading past the original poster you made. My bad.

A cpu has current running through it. Just like a coil for example.

It is entirely possible to hear a current passing at an audible frequency. Nothing more than annoying. I have also witnessed this phenomenon in the past on some old AM2 platform, but I couldn't say exactly which cpu. I had to consider the possibility that a coil was either doing ventrilquism and it just sounded like the cpu, or that the cpu actually was the culprit and the cooler fins assisted with making it audible.

You could always try a stethoscope. I use one for working on class 8 tractors quite a bit. Helps pin point internal noises pretty easily. Something to consider for diag possibly.

Good Luck!! :)

It would be your best interest to take your own advice before you go mad over it.
