Constant EDP Other Throttle

Hi,

I've been tinkering around with throttlestop for a while now, mainly to raise the power limits and turbo settings. I don't believe i have thermal issues, considering that HWiNFO has never reported a throttle on their end.

My setup is as such:

HP Elitebook 840 G3
i5-6300u
HD 520
Windows 11 (ReviOS)

My problem is that my EDP other limit always pops up, and i have yet to found a solution. My ICC Max values are maxed and my power limits are the highest they can be. My BIOS has been flashed back from the most recent one to the 2018 revision so i can adjust the power (the newer one has it locked). Attached will be my log, settings and .etc, im hoping for somebody to point me in the right direction / or give suggestions on what settings i need to specifically tweak. I have also tried a -75 undervolt, however that didnt change anything.

Thanks in advance.

Clear the Sync MMIO box and check the MMIO Lock box instead. Set the turbo time limit back to a more sensical default value of 28 seconds. If PL1 and PL2 are set to the same value, there is no point in requesting 3 million seconds of turbo boost time. Asking for more than 40 days and 40 nights of turbo boost is kind of excessive.

It is usually Power Limit 4 that controls EDP OTHER going red across all three domains. Try setting this limit to a value of 0. This tells the CPU to ignore this limit.

Not sure if your CPU needs to use the PP0 Power Limit. Try clearing the Clamp box, set this limit to 0 and set the PP0 Turbo Time Limit to the minimum, 0.0010 seconds. Press Apply and then clear the PP0 Power Limit check box and press Apply again or press OK to save this setting.

also tried a -75 undervolt
Show me a screenshot of what you tried. Does the undervolt show up in the FIVR monitoring table at the top right of the FIVR window? Did you undervolt both the core and the cache? For many Intel CPUs, you need to undervolt both of these or else the undervolt will not work. How did you determine that the undervolt did not work? If your temperatures are fine then there might not be any point undervolting.

Hey,

I have changed my settings to something more reasonable (as you suggested), I have also flashed back to windows 10 and got access to a power limit beyond 30 (it was capped at 30 before). I am not getting EDP other on everything except for ring now. Here are my updated settings and my log file.

As for the undervolt, i sort of phrased it wrong. It was more akin to "it didnt really make a difference". I followed the guide included with the installation of throttlestop and yes, i did undervolt both the cache and CPU. I never got any thermal throttling indicators before i undervolted from HWiNFO while running benchmarks and having temps peak at 70. FIVR showed an undervolt when i applied the -75 offset voltage.

Also, in the case i want to improve my iGPU's performance in throttlestop, what would i tinker around with?

Thanks for the help.

Your log file looks great. The CPU is constantly switching back and forth between the 30 and the 29 multiplier depending on whether 1 or 2 cores are active. That is exactly what this CPU should be doing. The previous EDP throttling was making the CPU run about 500 MHz slower. No more throttling problems like that.

ThrottleStop does not have any iGPU overclocking features. Intel XTU might have this feature if your CPU and iGPU are supported, XTU's extra bloat will probably do more harm than good. Try using GPU-Z to log the GPU MHz if you are interested in that. Nothing is showing up in Limit Reasons under the GPU column so your iGPU is likely running at max speed.

As for your settings, the Max Speed Shift value is listed as 30. Setting the Min and Max to 60 will not make any difference compared to setting the Max to 30.

The PP0 Power Limit should not be checked.

Thanks for the advice! You have been really helpful with this. I was also wondering if setting my iGPU to something static would make it run faster?
