Cooler for r7 5700X3D [Stock]

I need an air cooler for an r7 5700X3D, at stock settings.

System: 5700x3d
Asrock B550M Pro 4
Ripjaws X 3200Mhz 32GB RAM
Deepcool AG400 RGB (incapable)
Country: India (No AC PC room)

BUDGET: less than 3600 INR

Sorry to say this one thing, but its the "AG"620 version not the higher performing, costly "AK"620. Are you by any chance confusing it with the AK ?

I don't know what's available in the India market but having shoved a few 5700X3Ds into PCs as upgrades recently I can definitely say that they need a pretty good cooler.

Look for a 120mm tower, it doesn't have to be particularly large because the 5700X3D's maximum power consumption is only 142W and it normally uses less than that. What you definitely need is a solid baseplate instead of those cheaper coolers that make direct contact to the CPU with heatpipes.

I've run my 5800X3Ds with several coolers over the last few years - custom loop, Bequiet and ID-Cooling AIOs, Old noctua NH-U12, Deepcool AK620, AMD Wraith Spire and Wraith Prism, and ID-Cooling 226XT. The problem isn't providing enough cooling power, the problem is getting the small amount of heat produced away from the CPU as quickly as possible so you're after a big coldplate/baseplate above all else that can act as a big thermal mass and get concentrated heat to as many heatpipes as possible. In a hot country with the lower TjMax on a 5700X3D and the 3D V-Cache in the way of cooling, you really can't get away with a direct-contact heatpipe design.

Here in Europe, the Thermalright BA120 was just about the cheapest 120mm cooler with a solid baseplate, under €20 on Amazon, though prices have gone up after it was that price for a couple of years.

Just look for a solid baseplate like that with at least 4 heatpipes and you'll be fine.

Differences are very small. AK620 just looks nicer and maybe has slightly better fans but both coolers are more or less exactly the same.

I did give a budget ( less than 3600INR) and website to look for ( pcpricetracker.in ) in my original post. Could you look into it recommend a cooler. Thermalright not available here. Sometimes theres one or two in amazon but at extremely inflated prices.
The CM Hyper 620c ARGB has a solid baseplate. But not much reviews. What do you think? Its also within the budget!

I'd say the AK500 will do too, it ought to be cheaper than either the AG620 or AK620, but it doesn't seem to be cheaper in India so you might as well just step up to the AG620.

The AG500 is direct-contact while the AK500 is a solid baseplate, From Deepcool's website both the AK and AG 620 variants seem to use proper baseplates.

If you're unsure that the AG620 you're looking at uses a solid baseplate, just get the coolermaster. Regardless of which cooler is better for a 353W i9-14900KS, the 5700X3D doesn't care - it just wants a solid baseplate and enough fins to deal with 142W quietly.

Oh thank you, so much! I dont know for some reasons, I was 100% sure, base plate was for the DC Assassin. AG620 it is then.

I was looking for a cheap 240 AIO becuase in many places the Thermalright Frozen Edge is a $40-50 cooler that will definitely be a great option for you, but I don't see any AIOs for under 4000 rupees, and nothing I recognise for under 6000.

5700X is hard to keep cool, but that's just it's nature of having the cache layer blocking heat transfer from the cores. It's GOING to run hot, but you can at least cool it quietly and with a decent amount of thermal mass with the AG620. Don't be surprised if it rockets straight to 90C under synthetic tests, nothing short of my custom loop could keep it much under 90C in Cinebench or Prime95. Undervolting and negative offsets in curve optimisers help a bit, but that assumes you have a 500-series motherboard for curve optimiser. Either way, 90C is fine, it's what the boost algorithm is using as a target. What you don't want to see is anything higher than 91-92C (there's always a little bit of hysterisis and overshoot with the boost temperature target so a degree or two over TjMax is competely normal under thermally-limited boost)

If I may ask and go a little offtopic is it possible for the 5700x3d to work with the ag400 until the ag620 arrives, with a lower power pl1/pl2 power limit like the Intel cpus? Is there anything like pl1pl2 in amd bios? Might take 5days+ to arrive.

It'll be fine, it'll spend a lot of time at 90C and probably lose 100-200MHz of boost compared to the AG620 but it's not going to damage your CPU in any way.

If you're waiting for a better cooler to arrive, install Ryzen Master and use the curve optimiser feature to tune your core offset. Personally I work out which offsets to apply to each core, and then add +5 to guarantee stability by setting those values directly in the BIOS.

So if Ryzen Master suggests -25 offset for some cores, I set them to -20

Also, if you're struggling to keep the 5700X cool with the AG400 you can temporary set a manual PBO profile of PPT=115W, TDC=75W, EDC=120W. Those are the sweet spot for most AM4 X3D chips in terms of performance/Watt, you're getting 95% of the performance for about a 20% reduction in power draw. Those are like the PL1/PL2 limits on an Intel platform, you'll find them in the "AMD Overclocking" section of the BIOS, go to Precision Boost Overdrive, set it to advanced/manual and plug in those numbers I gave you. The defaults, in other words stock settings with PBO disabled are PPT=142W, TDC=90W, EDC=140W.

i wouldnt even deal with uv/uc and/or mess with power limits, just change to 105w eco mode and you dont have to worry about instability or know what your doing.
