With the Corsair K95 Platinum, the company introduces an upgraded microcontroller to the keyboard series which enables improved RGB lighting, dedicated macro keys and hardware playback. Also included is a lightbar and USB passthrough. The K95 Platinum doesn't come cheap though at $199.

Non availability of gunmetal gray(at launch) outside us and no option for red/blue switches are two more con for me.
I hate those rapidfire switches, actuation point is too short for my taste.

I've got two of the K95 (non-platinum; with the 18 macro keys).

Love it. Brown switches, macros are great when you need to type weird characters.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Yeah, I am not sure why they didn't launch the gunmetal globally. Must have been a stock issues as all review samples sent were the black w/MX Speed switches from what I can see.

Edit: I have confirmation that there will be no MX Red or MX Blue switch options, just these two. Similarly, the gunmetal option will remain North America only even after launch.

Some youtubers have received gunmetal gray K95 platinums. It's quite unusual that corsair is not offering Blue/Red switch options. Another thing bugging me is that even though keyboard itself uses USB 3.0 port for power why that USB pass through port is kept at USB 2.0 speeds. For a 200$ keyboard its inexcusable.

It's intended for a mouse, USB headset or mousepad where USB 2.0 is plenty enough. In fact, you can use their MM800 and a mouse both from it using the shared port passthrough on the MM800.

I did ask why not USB 3.0 since it is now nothing special, and was not given a clear answer.

thats a decent point, but I like to use the USB passthrough for flash drives. Since my PC is under the desk having a conveniently located usb port is more of a necessity. Although those RGB mouse pads are a step too far.

I don't understand faulting the keyboard for the keycaps would PBT sets last 3-5 times longer? Sure PBT caps can be included in the box but another $20 would be tacked onto the price but when ABS replacements can be had for $20, ABS caps still come out ahead when replacement double shot PBT set cost around $75-$100. There is no sensible case that can be made for a PBT set of keycaps being included. I'm not complaining just voicing my thoughts as I'm not one to advocate for companies to charge more for less.

It's more to do with the stock keycaps and the lack of replacement options. Thin ABS glosses over with finger oils and use, as has been the case with my own keyboards after 6 months of heavy use, and laser etched or pad printed legends will lose visibility with the same time.

The vast majority of replacement keycap sets do not fit the bottom row of the Corsair keyboards, and decent replacement sets cost $40 but even these have uneven backlighting illumination.
