Hi, that's my question. Which will be better for my R7-9700X and why? Cheers!

seems like corsair is better but no way in hell im paying $300 for a cooler. especially not for a 9700x, no offense. even my 5950x I MIGHT get a thermalright aio 360 for like $60 or ARCTIC Liquid Freezer III 360 for a benjamin but only in the summer. I dont know whats the reason that in lists of coolers they dont want to list thermalright many times.
Im going to guess its that for the cheap price they really do well and the price/performance ratio ruins lots of sales for expensive produts from other brands. for $300, you get 5x thermalright. and by gamers nexus, it does very well. right now on thermalright spirit 140 and its doing very well but its winter. well see how it is in the brutal summer. so if you ask, I wouldnt take any of the 2 you listed but im a cheap fec. I get good enough, but dont buy overpriced things for little gain in return. but its your wallet. look at the numbers in the list.

DeepCool Assassin IV

Because:

1. Its significantly cheaper vs the H150i

2. 9700X pulls 80w at the most.

3. You could probably save yourself even more coin (another 50-70%...) and buy a Thermalright Peerless Assassin/Phantom Spirit and still be perfectly fine.

That Corsair AIO is abhorrently overpriced, go for something like an arctic liquid freezer III 360 or II, whichever is cheaper.

Just following up.

If you like the look of the Deepcool. There is an Thermalright that looks quite similar. Its also almost 50% cheaper.

The Deepcool is £85 where im from.

1734997851699.png

TPU has a review

It will cover your CPU all the way up to 240w before things start getting too toasty.

1734998132249.png

You could probably go for even cheaper coolers. Thermalright offers insane value. e.g Assassin X for under £20 will easily cool 80w

1734998263951.png

You also have a case that was designed for great airflow from the ground up so there shouldnt be any excuses why the Assassin X wouldnt work for the 9700X. Bump up your intake fans by 3-5% and youre good.

The phantom spirit evo 120 rocks just stuck one on a stock 5950X and it doesn't break 65C under heavy load my Corsair H150i elite lcd was only a couple C better. Unless planning on going with a 200w+ cpu stick with an air cooler.

It will take 260w from a Zen 3 part, but neither will be happy :D

At least in my own not so scientific testing 360+ aio like the Corsair, LFIII/II, NZXT etc only start pulling away from the best air coolers I've used above 200w. Some air coolers and AIO do poorly on specific IHS as well even from the same maker. I've had the best luck on ryzen with the LF series of aio especially the LFIII but some NZXT and older corsair coolers don't fair as well.

TIM also plays a small but important part as well. I was using a new to me TIM and it was not good.. at all. At least for me..

Bought a 40G tube of SYY now I should be good for a bit :D

I use TG kryonaut on everything it has always worked well for me except that one bad batch 4-5 years ago lol.... The tim that comes standard with the TR PS 120 evo is like glue lmao I would suggest anyone buying it not use it.... I've never had issues with Noctua or Corsair stock tim though.

I've been very tempted to try the Kryosheet my buddy has one on his 14900k and it has worked really well. My 7950X3D runs really cool on the Kryonaut so haven't felt the need...

Have you tried with PBO full bore? Looking to get away from AIOs and my 5950x kicked to 260w...

I was running WCG at 260/170/200 and it was crunching at 4600-4650MHz, wasn't taking the 260w though.. maybe 225ish.

Only Linpack can make my 5900X do 260w. I did 305 in R23 once but that was an oops.

Just debating which cooler to eventually change to. If those Assassin's or EVO can handle the full 260w then that's what I'm getting.

I've taken it up to 220W for testing and it did fine on the 360 aio did not try air cooling that my ambient is 20c I was seeing in the mid 80s vs 60C stock 1 hour of a blender render. Stock is around 130-140w.

I do not know the exact power consumed i only measure full system power so mostly an estimate

I don't think I have any screenshots from 260 on air, I am guessing mid 80s for sure, probably closer to 90.
