Cpu cooler

Ok, well I am posting this here because it's the first room on the list...
I have a Dell board, I got another cpu heat sink+fan for it. The plug from the fan is the typical 4 pin. The plug on the board is 5 pin. The fan plug is too thick to fit into the plug on the board and the 4 fan wires r all black... all that being said, my question is:

Is any way to tell which wire on is positive on a 4 wire fan connector when they r all the same color? Maybe where it connects to the fan itself... and if it's plugged in backwards will it fuck the fan up?

Dell normally have fairly detailed manuals, which may give you more insight on the connector.

Thank u for the replys but it's not the ones on the Dell I'm inquiring about.. those r color coated.. it's the 4 pin coming out of the cpu cooler. It's a Cool Master Geminll S...
