Hi everyone
My setup consists of an Acer Predator Triton 500 with an i7-9750h as the CPU.
When I play games, I get these random CPU usage spikes to 95%, which causes massive stuttering every couple of minutes.
The game that I play most of the time is Fifa 23, which normally uses about 50% of my CPU. A couple of months ago I was able to play this game flawlessly in 4k 60fps but now it's become unplayable with all the stuttering.
I was able to get rid of the problem for a while by using counter control and resetting the counters, as I noticed that Windows Defender was using too much of my CPU.
But now even with normal counters and with the windows defender boost activated on Throttlestop, I still get this issue.
My in-game settings are as low as possible, with everything disabled, just a 60fps cap (the in-game one because it seems to work better than the one from the Nvidia panel) because if I don't use it the game becomes very unstable.
Of course nothing else is using the CPU while I'm gaming, at least not that I'm aware of.
I'll share my Throttlestop settings below so that you can have a more clear picture of the situation.
The power limits settings are kind of useless because in this laptop the power usage is limited to 45W and it can't be changed (didn't know before buying it 3 years ago).
Cache is set up at -80 because that's as far as I can go without causing instability and crashes.
The limits window shows a bit of everything. Thermals aren't amazing, I cleaned my fans today and it improved a lot, but the thermal paste is about a year old so I should probably change that one as well (didn't do it today because I'm out of isopropyl alcohol and can't clean the old one without it).
But I don't think that thermal throttling would randomly bring the CPU usage to 95%+, although I'm not an expert so you guys can tell me about that.
So that's it. I don't know what I can do more here. Let me know if you have any suggestions.
