Also, that's not why schools use them. They use them because they are compliant with digital state testing and why pay $1000 to do testing when a $250 chromebook does the same thing? Bonus points, the chroebooks are FAR more repairable then most laptops today, especially more "affordable" models.

Oh yeah, and managing these things is a BREEZE. And far cheaper, compared to the prices microsoft is charging for AD user accounts and intune licenses. Assigning them to users, buildings, or special purposes is a single click in most cases, compared to the nightmare that is MS's AD system.

Furthermore, if you are not familiar with inner city schools, most of these will be beaten to hell or destroyed by the student body before that 8 year mark. Doesnt matter if you bought $2500 macbooks, the result would be the same.

You SHOULD be praising your local school systems for being wise with taxpayer money.

Yes. Reassigning entire groups is one or two clicks. Changing a chromebook from doing pre k testing, to being set up for a teacher, or a generic logon for students is 2 clicks to move to a new OU. Changes occur in less then a minute. Active directory is more work to move OUs, and the changes often require GPUDATE and a reboot to take effect.

Bonus points, they have built in remote management, because any chromebook connected anywhere can be seen remotely and changed via google console!

Anything specific for industry isnt gonna be covered on a normal school laptop. If you're teaching CAD or coding, those classrooms have specific laptops or desktops for their use case.

I work at a university in IT and was a public school teacher for 15 years. Name a corporation or business that uses Chromebooks.
