Didn’t know where to post this but hey guys I have a question. Anyone here have a curved monitor, if so what’s your take on them ? I’m looking at getting a new monitor to get the PC out of the living room off the big screen but can’t really decide on a monitor and the curved ones seems to catch my eyes. 27” and above

What would you guys recommend for gaming ?

The wider the display, the more important it is. I'd argue, at 27", it shouldn't be a priority. Display size should be purchased according to viewing distance; resolution is also an important component of that.

>60 Hz and adaptive sync are more important features.

I had one and it was cool. The screens in them are ridiculously sensitive and I broke it when I leaned it on my mouse to plug a cord in -_-

Got a standard screen the same size to replace it for half the price and to be honest it's not worth the extra cash to go curved. It's cool but gimicky and you pay out the ass for said gimick

This. If you're going for ultra wide 21:9, go for curved because it actually helps seeing things better. If not, if you're going for 16:9 display, it doesn't matter much, mostly a gimmick then.

It will be personal preference

I'm currently using a 34 inch 21:9 non-curved. I originally got a curved and did not like it for anything other than gaming. During games I found myself either too fast paced to care or not focused on the edges, where as when doing productivity or just web-browsing It was noticeable and bothered me.

The curve also emphasize backlight bleed and color shifts depending on the panel you get. If your picky.

Make use of that 30 day return policy.

I have the X34 Predator and it's curved. For a very wide monitor I think it's somehow useful but I would not probably buy a such expensive monitor just because it is curved. Imo you should get something like a 27" no curve as a monitor

I have a 27" curved samsung screen and to be honest i don't even notice the curve anymore and to me its just a gimmik.
Only reason i got this screen was because i managed to snag it for £60 and because my other screen died.

If i had to buy a new screen now i would just go with a normal one.

I've gone from 2015-2016 27" curved samsung monitor to a newer 27" curved samsung monitor with the rated "1800R" which you can notice a small difference staring at it dead on when comparing between my old vs new. The main difference in my opinion when comparing between my old vs new is if you have a friend/colleague that is sitting from side of you, that the viewing experience is a lot better on the newer panel vs older panel.

Well for me size makes a different so don’t want anything under 27”

Ok that is for the input on curved guys.

So now than I’m looking at 2560x1440 & 3440x1440 monitors

FreeSync seems more reasonable to me than GSync

I play FPS games more than any others

Dont be impressed for curved monitos, better get a flat with minimum 1440p of res and 60+ Hz refersh rate. You will enjoy pretty much any game.

Resolution and refresh rate are the most important things if you want to play games and enjoy every new graphic details.

Im pretty tired of my 1080p the enjoyment is ended because the lack of pixels.

It's all a matter of taste. My suggestion is: go to a physical store and look at monitors you like. If you have an opportunity to do so, try comparing 60Hz vs 120+Hz side-by-side. For me the difference was minimal, so I went with high resolution instead. But some people are more perceptive, so they choose high refresh rate instead.

I was not a big fan of curved screens, but just a few weeks after I bought my 4K monitor, I visited my client's office. He just bought an ultra-wide curved samsung, and as soon as I saw it in action, I understood the appeal. Even though it was a 1440p 60Hz model, it was still perfect for movies and gaming. BTW, 1080p ultra-wide is still a good option, considering there are some nice >=120Hz models at reasonable price.
Also note that curved screens are good at everything, except productivity and work. It's real pain in the ass to write code, edit documents or do any visual work on a bent/distorted display.

would prefer 120Hz+ as 60Hz seems to move slow for me in FPS games

1080P is a no for me as well. Just to much of a visual difference ( been gaming at 1440P & 2160P )

What 1440P (2560x1440 or 3440x2160) would you guys recommend that's 27" or bigger and 100Hz capable or more ?

Assuming you end up buying one of these curved monitors, be very careful with how you place it when hooking the cables or some such: there's a dude from TPU that broke his screen doing just that, but don't recall who exactly.

A while ago I had a choice to buy a curved monitor as well but in the end I went with a "flat" Dell 1440p G-Sync monitor.
For gaming a curved monitor would be fine I think but it seems a bit weird to me when using office apps and browsing the internet and such...
However I'm sure you'll get used to it but I wouldn't say it's "better".

There's no point going Freesync when you have an Nvidia card, you won't reap the benefits of it.

I have the same monitor. While I do love it, I kinda wish I went 4k but i dont have the GPU to power it for decent FPS. I mostly play WoW and the screen is really great for the game as well as shooters themselves. However, I wish I had a 4k ultrawide for the best of both worlds. :D

I've gamed on a curved monitor at a friend's and love the way games look.

My next upgrade (in my dreams) will be a 32" 4K curved monitor.

For now I'm happy with my ''ghetto fix'' which is wearing reading glasses with a power of +2 in front of my 1440p 27". I don't need reading glasses, but if I wear them the screen looks bigger and the monitor appears curved. o_O :rockout:

Didn’t know where to post this but hey guys I have a question. Anyone here have a curved monitor, if so what’s your take on them ? I’m looking at getting a new monitor to get the PC out of the living room off the big screen but can’t really decide on a monitor and the curved ones seems to catch my eyes. 27” and above

What would you guys recommend for gaming ?
I think you need to see one and decide for yourself. Many people seem to like them, but I find them to be absolutely horrible (can't stand curved TVs either). So ymmv.

It's looks cool, if they're the same price I'd go for a curved one, but usually it's too much expensive so I'd just settle for a normal monitor, also, the bigger it is, the more important it is. Also, I'm perfectly fine with a 1080p monitor at 144hz if it means I get better FPS and more longevity for my card, so that factors heavily why i'm not fond of curved monitors.

When it's big-ass screen, having a curved monitor means you'll be able to the see far ends of the Monitor easier, it'll be closer and more perpendicular with your line of sight. I guess it works best with productivity apps like Excel, Photoshop, or very complex Strategy Games.

response to above comment: I also dislike curved TVs, because you don't watch TVs at close range, so if it's curved then the viewing angle diminishes for longer ranges
