Hi everyone, I finally moved on to an OLED on the PC, I bought a LG 42 C3 on Amazon Warehouse, it was a used but the price was not bad and with a 20% discount I paid in total "only" 550 euros, this discount I requested because the panel I saw some Dead pixels in the edges (in the right edge at the bottom only one that remains dead in all colors), and in the edges on the left and on the right, one at the bottom and one at the top , these are small row near the tv frame (see three photos)

Among other things, I also discovered that this TV has already been used for 1700 hours, at this point what do you advise me to do? On Amazon it is no longer available to be purchased therefore either I keep it at the good price I paid or I make the return having to spend much more for another model, or could LG repair the panel in your opinion?

My concern is that the dead pixels could increase over time, given that this TV has been used for many hours/months
thank you for you help

looks like youve been cleaning the screen with something. never do that. it will get in there and cause damage in the edges. just use a dry dust cloth.

1700 hours isn't a lot if the TV was well taken care of, pixel cleaning routines done on time and mitigations against burn in enabled, especially if its brightness was set to modest settings. It looks like this was something the previous owner saw the defects and stalled to the last day they could return it. Unfortunately, this panel cannot be fixed, not even by LG - those dead pixels are dead for life, and you better hope it doesn't develop any further.

I'd send it back and put down the extra couple of bones for a brand new B4 (899 euros at Amazon.de), lacks the 144 Hz of the C4 but similar to the C3 in that regard.

I have a C3 bought new at 1400 hours "Panel Usage Time" (in read out by sticking a USB-stick and pressing the blue button on the remote 5-10 times, it's then in the OLED42C*_UTT_M60.txt file on the stick). 1400 hours isn't a lot and 1700 either. The C3 has always been in PC / 4:4:4 mode, OLED brightness is set to 80 out of 100. The brightness is limited in PC mode to like 250 nits at the full 100 brightness setting. AFAIK, since C3, all OLED panels use the OLED.EX panel, which should last even longer at these low level brightness levels than the previous panel generation in C1 (C2 had a panel lotery of EX and non-EX panels). If that one pixel isn't bothering you visually and you use the TV mainly in PC mode where the brightness is limited in the first place, I wouldn't send it back. But even when used with HDR content for movies, not necessarely as a PC monitor where enabling HDR isn't recommended for static content, I maybe wouldn't send it back either.

I picked up on several things here...
Your thread title says 1700 hours use , Rungar thinks you cleaned it and you reply you only got it yesterday so why say its had 1700 hours use.
Dead pixels can be a bit like a mark on your room wall ...... you dont see the room you just see the mark !

Dead pixels for refunds a bit of a minefield and i found this information on another site.

There are a number of dead pixels accepted on different screen resolutions, a few of them are mentioned here

  1. A 1024 x 786 screen resolution takes up to 4 dead pixels at a time.
  2. 1280 x 1024 takes up to 7 dead pixels.
  3. 1600 x 1200 accepts approximately 10 dead pixels at a time.
  4. 2048 x 1536 takes up to 16 dead pixels in general.
This means that if for example you have a 1600 x 1200 with only 6 dead pixels .... even if they are bang in the middle of the screen you can be refused a refund.

If you search the internet you can find some free programs that claim to repair dead pixels ..... and my disclaimer is ...... its your choice to risk it i am only telling you they exist.

Unless this isn't the same corner we're not seeing burn in here:

If this was G series you would probably qualify for 5 year panel warranty but I would still consult with local LG office if they can do something about it. Otherwise, return to Amazon.

I have a CX (bought new). Also developed a few pixels in about the same area and a few on the left. They're not noticeable from typical viewing distance, haven't seen new ones in a while. I'd say enjoy your new purchase, don't pay too much attention to those pixels.
