Hideo Kojima announces that his game Death Stranding will be released in the summer of 2020 for the PC. The PlayStation 4 version will appear as planned on November 8 this year. It is not yet known which download stores will release the PC version.

Kojima Productions, the studio that makes Death Stranding, mentions the arrival of the PC version on Twitter. Details about the PC version are not there yet, only it is known that the game will be released sometime in the summer of next year. Death Stranding is Kojima's first game since he left Konami in 2015. The game was made with support from Sony; the console version is therefore only for the PlayStation 4. The game uses the Decima engine from Guerrilla Games. It will be the first time that a game with that engine being released for the PC.

It is not yet known via which download stores the PC version of Death Stranding will be available. 505 Games will release the PC version,
Gematsu reports. 505 Games is also the publisher of Control, which game came out in the Epic Games Store.

It was already known years ago that there would be a PC version of Death Stranding. The title, however, was mainly in the news as PlayStation 4-exclusive and a PC version remained silent. In 2015 there was a message on Medium about the collaboration between Sony and Kojima Productions. It was referred to as a console exclusive for the PS4 and then a release for the PC.

Regardless, this is great news and another confirmation the exclusivity deals for consoles are losing ground. I like it!

Unless you're owned wholly by Sony/Nintendo/Microsoft, I don't think any developer makes pure exclusives and hasn't for a long time. You'll cut your demographic far too short by doing so. In the past it was partially because developing for multiple platforms was more difficult, but since 2005 or so most major games have been multiplatform.

Depends. There is a very clear distinction between what made a PC port on PS3 and what made it on PS4. Now its like you say, only a handful of true exclusives because they're directly related to Sony, like Guerilla Games. But it used to be a lot more than that - and early days of PS4 were looking different than they do today. And a big number of those I think saw the light of day because of EGS and the deal it wanted to make.

It's about the journey and atmosphere as far as I can tell. One of the reasons I think I will like it, it doesn't need to make sense, just go along for the ride, see what happens. Could be surprising or it could be a joke, but I trust Hideo enough I'd like to experience it personally.

Definitely checking this game out. Definitely requires an open mind. And it can definitely still suck. :D Hideo has his moments.

"Who has any idea wtf the game is about" should be the tagline for this. It's Kojima, it's something new. Tech wise it looks amazeballs, I'll wait for full reviews from independent sources.

Won't be losing it anytime soon at all, Sony owns all these studio(according to Wiki)*Example*:

Any third-party studios that gets Sony or Nintendo or Microsoft backing will make it a exclusive to those platform and maybe in future get a PC release etc depending on the contract.

Highly doubt we will see games like Horizon Zero Dawn or Uncharted or Gran Turismo to get a PC release at all as those are officially Sony property.

Death Stranding was rumored to not be a PS4 exclusive anymore for awhile now, after people noticing the box art not having the "Only on Playstation" stamp.

Probably the last game I planned to buy for my PS4(of “maybe” 6 I’ve bought total)Obviously off the list now and will enjoy it on my platform of choice.

If FPS is capped at 60 on PC I will just stick with my original plan, which is just buy it used off Ebay when I get a Playstation 5 next year. I haven't owned a console since PS2 days and I have a lot of Sony exclusive backlog I want to catch up on. PS NOW sucks... already tried it... it's a horrible experience. Terrible graphics on the stream even with 1 gig connection.

Playstation 5 plus buying a bunch of backlog games used, and using the PS Store to buy a couple PS1, PS2, and PS3 classics digitally... and I will be buying my first 4K TV same day PS5 comes out... going to be a very very expensive day for me, but I have been planning that for awhile now. No reason to buy a PS4 this late in it's life.

I might pick this up used for PS4. Not sure it is worth the $59 tag as it is more interactive movie than game from what I have seen but it does look good and I do love a strange story.

My friend picked it up and forced me to play it.

It is a walking simulator so far. It was OK but nothing amazing or well, that fun. But it was early part of the game so maybe it gets more fun later.

I have about two hours in this game so far and it is without a doubt very beautiful. The story is strange and interesting and even my wife is enjoying watching me play (she is not a gamer) but only time will tell if it is good or not. I'm enjoying it so far just because of the graphics, story and relaxing pace.
