I currently have Fractal Define R5, which I've seemingly had for seven years or so, much longer than most cases before that, but lately I've been thinking about an upgrade.
There are some features that kind of annoy me and I'd prefer something a little more simple while maintaining good build quality.
There is this builtin disk cage mount or whatever in the front, but who uses spinners these days? I had to take half the case apart to remove this so the current graphic card fit in the case. Annoying!
It also has damn 5,25" bay, WTF?
Due to the above, the case also has front doors. One more thing that can break.
The PSU area is completely separated from the main compartment, which is a pain in the ass when you have to deal with any cabling. I guess this is done for visual reasons, but I much rather do my own cable management and don't waste space and curse my arse off when I try to disconnect something in a space my hand barely fits into.
The integrated FAN control system is something I never used either, and the FANs the case came with remained unusused, because I am a Noctua fanboy (plus I don't need fans in the front anyway).
Lastly, the grille in front of the rear fan is so stupid it amplifies any acoustic noise million-fold, and I am not going to cut it out when I'm considering getting a new case and selling this one
It's things like these why I am thinking about something new.
I like the build quality of Fractal, but I want something with less features I don't need/want.
Can I get any suggestions? The only base requirement is size somewhat comparable to the Define R5, which is mid tower type I guess. Along with the relative simplicity preference. Oh wait, I do want dust filters, plenty of them. This flat is swarming with cats
I've been going through Fractal's current offerings, but nothing really caught my eye. Meshify 2 looked ok at first, but then I noticed it had the dumb internal design as well.
Currently going through Asus, but their website is a mess. Agh!
I don't have a hard price requirement, but I'm not going to waste $200+ equivalent on a case either.
