"Epic Mickey" Concepts

I gotta say this game and concept are some of the most intriguing I've seen in some time. Its awesome and sad at the same time. Part of me cannot wait to play and the other part is sad at a lose of innocence. Anyway enjoy this concept art as its awesome. Would you expect anything less from Disney? As this develops Ill post screens and info. I have a feeling this is going to be an epic success or an epic failure.

Deus Ex Veteran's 'Epic Mickey' Coming to Wii, Amazing Artwork Includes Zombie Goofy

Warren Spector's rumored Disney-meets-steampunk project "Epic Mickey" is rumor no more, as confirmation and art have emerged by way of online resumes and portfolios.

Coming from the Disney-owned Junction Point Studios, Epic Mickey is being developed for the Wii, going by the resume of current Junction Point artist Tony Pulham.

Little else is known of the project--rumors suggest it's a platformer--with Spector having previously cautioned that upon its revelation, fans would vilify the Deus Ex and System Shock veteran, accuse him of selling out, and act "like the world came to an end."

Meanwhile, former Junction Point artist Fred Gambino has posted several pieces of concept art labeled "Epic Mickey," with online postings from fellow ex-Junction artist Gary Glover sharing themes, locations, and even names. Furthermore, Glover's work matches descriptions of the Epic Mickey artwork glimpsed by Gamasutra last year.

Credit to superannuation for discovering Pullham's Wii-confirming resume and pointing out Gambino's work, with Glover's art making the rounds via NeoGAF.

Well they have some top notch talent working on it from both industries. As an artist I must say the concept is pure art and if they stay true to "Old" Disney tradition this could be a masterpiece.

Hope you have a Wii. Anyway its happening. No doubt. Disney doesn't invest into things and not follow through.

Yep, have a Wii and a computer. PS3 and Xbox are inferior to PC and wii is required for most guitar hero games (apart from the computer)

EDIT: I hope it is first person survival horror.

Well they said its to be a platformer. I think a FPS might push it a little to far.

sorry, meant 3rd person survival horror. With the ability to jump, almost like a platformer. Resident evil with Disney characters, and the ability to jump.

If they can make it dark, but keep it light-hearted with a meaningful ending, great storyline, and fair gameplay, it could be epic itself, and open doors to other great pieces of work.

Epic Mickey details arise

First info on Warren Spector's Wii-exclusive emerges

Following a batch of concept art said to be from an unannounced Disney game dubbed 'Epic Mickey' comes a few details from a source who wishes to remain anonymous. When don't they?

Details were originally spotted by Superannuation who found out that a development and concept artist listed the project - "Epic Mickey" (Wii Video Game) - on his online CV and pointed to some concept art (which you can find on this page) said to be from the game.

CVG has learnt that the game is indeed called Epic Mickey and it's being worked on by ex-Deus Ex man, Warren Spector at his Junction Point studio. But the internet already seems to know that.

We've since been told that it's a Wii-exclusive where you paint your way through levels using the Wii Remote. This 'painting your way' involves you drawing, etching and erasing whole or parts of levels as you go. Capcom's Okami immediately springs to mind but we've not got enough info to go on to make any kind of informed judgement.

As for the story, we've also been told that it'll be based around very old and/or forgotten Disney characters who are out to get their revenge on Mickey, presumably because they're jealous of all his fame and fortune. We Googled 'early Disney characters' and found that Oswald the Lucky Rabbit returned a lot of hits. A bit before even CVG's time all that though.

So not much to go on. We've contacted Disney about the extra info but don't really expect any confirmation as the game's still unannounced. But looking at the concept art, we're quietly excited already. There's plenty more guesswork to be found on NeoGaf.
