Xbox has pushed back the launch of its awaited Fable remake, instead of coming out in 2025, it's now set to hit shelves in 2026. Craig Duncan, who took charge of Xbox Game Studios, broke this news on the latest episode of the Official Xbox Podcast. Playground Games, the team behind Forza Horizon, has the job of making the new Fable game as they told us about it back in 2020.

"We previously announced the date for Fable as 2025. We are actually going to give Fable more time, and it's going to ship in 2026 now," Duncan explained. "While I know that's not maybe the news people want to hear, what I want to assure people of is that it's definitely worth the wait." On the podcast, Duncan showed us some early game footage. He said it's "the prettiest version of Albion you've ever laid eyes on". Even though it's taking longer for Fable to be released, Microsoft's game branch looks strong with big games coming soon such as South of Midnight Doom: The Dark Ages (out in May), The Outer Worlds 2, and Ninja Gaiden 4.

I guarantee its because of GTA 6... They do not want to even be remotely in competition of that game when it comes out. They probably could not release it early enough in 2025 to be far away from GTA 6 and want it to have enough gap where players will go to it and give it some longevity for DLC or similar.

That may be true, but they released a pre-alpha teaser.... Maybe they're not that ready to release something in the next 10 months anyway

This is probably so they can get PS5 and Switch 2 versions of Fable ready to release day and date with the Xbox/PC versions of the game.

Starts at final segment around 14 min mark, focus seems to be on how pretty it is, at least from the rep, but hopefully it is a good game, however I expect the HUD wont be visible all the time a modern game problem.

I remember watching a commentary version of a film I like, and the producer behind it, didnt really talk about the good story scenes, all he was impressed about was how well the set was done, the special effects etc, which is an indicator of how modern creativity goes off track, the visuals being the priority.

Everything except the characters look nice. But it feels like another Avowed, and that game looked generic and turned out extremely generic.

I am worried from the little I have seen, but I hope that they are really working on it being more like the first Fable.

They need lots of fun weapons, fun money system including jobs and other ways to gain money, and a great story. I feel like after the 1st, each game had potential but just dropped the ball. Fable 2 was too easy/short with boring weapons systems and Fable 3 made becoming King weirdly rushed and boring (Like you all the sudden are basically stuck just making tons of random decisions while time moves without a break to go back into the world). They have a real chance if they look at the first and implement some of the mechanics the others have but significantly better and keep it a open ended adventure story.
