oof, im not impressed. guess it just looked better in the promo videos in all the dark areas. Shadows are ok in this, but textures and light are just not great imo.

I'm surprised it's an EGS exclusive, given that Square could simply publish it themselves...

Reminds me pretty much of FFXV graphically and personally I don't find that as a bad thing.

Totally agree here. And it sucks that I have almost every FF game on Steam and then I have to use a different launcher on this. Though they put the KH PC versions also to EGS.. :/

I still haven’t finished it on PS4 so I can’t even look at this and risk “double dipping” another game that ended up on PC(RDR2 I’m looking at you…)

Then you dont know SE, they grab all exclusivity deals they can get, they have a history of this sadly.

I havent brought it yet, due to a combo of the price and its on the Epic store. The price is £70 which would make it the most expensive game I have ever purchased. Epic seem to have a 1 to 1 exchange rate for GBP to USD.

Usually games that get delayed release on PC are discounted, Epic store takes only 18% yet this has reached record breaking pricing, so we know that 18% means nothing for what the consumer pays.

On the PS5 version I played, they very selectively upgraded textures, most of the Yuffie DLC has nice quality textures, but only a few textures in the main game got changed. Also I think the lighting regressed, many areas look either too bright or too dark whilst they were good on the PS4 version, I dont know if this got fixed on the PC version. Plus details levels were lost in the shinra tower on intergrade, apparently they removed manual textures to be replaced with dynamic lighting and it visually regressed.

However its still the better game vs the original ff7 remake, is new features and some very nice balance changes.

8.5 GB allocated VRAM @ 1080p and 13 GB of RAM, oof!
This game sure is hungry, unless you're running something in the background?

Nothing special on background, just all the game launchers (Steam, EA, Ubi, Epic etc) and two browser windows with several tabs. Though I have 32GB RAM and 11GB VRAM so having some allocated isn't that bad. :D

I would ignore the port for now it runs worse than on PS5 and hdr is broken on pc currently. It stutters pretty bad if you have less than 8GB of Vram and still has issues if you have more.

I have little stuttering but that isn't game-breaking. I don't have 100% stable 60fps line but that doesn't ruin the game experience IMO.

Epic paid for the exclusivity

Buying a PlayStation isnt a bad idea even if you are a pc gamer, those playstation exclusives are so god damn good and they look better than most maxed out titles on PC, i bought a PS4 when God of War came out and i dont regret my decision one bit, greatest game i'v experince in all of 2018, and the rest of the exclusives were the cherry on top !

It is ported from the PS5, a console with 16gb ram

Yeah, Square is worse than most westren game corporation, the fact they released an almost 2 year old game for 70 dollars despite being a problematic port is shady as fudge.
Konami of all things, release Metal Gear Rising on PC a year after its launched with two free DLCs , essentially a complete edition of the game for 30$

I'm skipping the remake and waiting for the reboot when Cloud is voiced by Doug Cockle. I hear Iron Man is in it as well and the game will tie in with that years Call of Duty.

The main game got rushed and plenty of reviews pointed out some very ugly textures, sky boxes, and severe pop in on the base game, those issues are common in the hub areas where you get to explore, but the liner missions like the beginning and factory do look very good, the PS5 port fixed some of the issues above but still the remnants of the rushed PS4 base game still lingers, it'll only get better when the second part comes if the gave it more time

Square is trying to go all mega/ultra/garbage verse where they blew load quickly and thew sephiroth in real quick. Whole thing was not very good imo and I know what they trying to do. But, the whole other verse stuff was cemented back in final fantasy 5 through "the void" which is supposed to connect all the final fantasies together. Hell, that's the story through dissidia. Anyway, this is Nomura's lazy writing and him shitcanning and introducing things not necessary.

I played it, beat it, and left unhappy. To each their own though.

If you force these cats to get too close to each other, do they howl 'awhoo', and begin to fight with each other? Otherwise its just pointless and a bad game.

I'm not a impressed they all have one color and there are no mixed breeds neither.

I'd love to see a tuxedo one as they're the best from "basic" cats. Kinda jealous as my friend has the most handsome cat in existence.

yeah i know what you mean, i was annoyed when cloud was fighting other soldiers during one of the missions is like .... who is this...
i plainly dont like the idea of a great completed story adding new characters... it just throws the whole thing off...
i guess the word remake is that the developers can add in new characters as well instead of sticking to what is already available...
because i remember saying cloud was the last soldier and now there is others coming in the remake and not featured in the original...
other things is fine in my books like the soundtrack gameplay etc... but mess with the story and adding character is a no no...

Personally for a remake, this is fine. And I say this as a fan of the series who fell in love with VII in 1999,

It has that moden-ish combat style which I got used in FFXV - I don't mind. And I love to see my favourite girls (Tifa, Aerith & Yuffie) with modern graphics. Loved those already in the original.

Sad face it's still just the first part of the game.

The first title in a multi-part series, it is based on the story from the original game, up to the escape from Midgar, adding in new elements.

If you gonna add time of fan into this, then I got you beat son. I been fan of ff series since 3 (6 in japan). And as a fan older than you, it's crap.

They retconned so much crap and blew their sephiroth load in our faces way too early and using his one wing angel song which was a final boss song. Over used cause if the kiddies who liked it too much.

Vram is allocated dynamically based on your vram amount in this game. Runs like a dream on my system and looks razor sharp, minimal shader caching at the start and plain sailing ever since. Such a shame to hear others having issues, I enjoy this remake it's a great game albeit a different way to experience FFVII. Already finished it on my PS4 pro last year but so willing to play through it again with better framerate and visuals on my PC.

Just to note, whether you like a game or not is totally subjective. What you may deem as great others may find crap. Doesn't make either of you right it just stipulates how you found the experience.

I'll be waiting for them to patch it up personally and if you're not fan of the english cast you can always play the game with the original japanese cast.
