Hi all,

I just found this site and have read through a few posts, it seems like theres a good lot of people who know what they are doing with PC's.

I am a complete novice with computers and have no idea what anything does or whats even good haha, I was wondering if some of you could help me choose a good gaming PC. I have a budget of £600 and have been browsing pre-built PC's and have found this one which I was going to just buy but decided I should get some advice first.
https://www.cyberpowersystem.co.uk/system/Infinity_X33/

I have selected these as changes:
1. INTEL Core™ i5-6500 Quad Core 3.20 GHz 6MB Cache LGA1151 + HD Graphics
2. Cooler Master Hyper TX3 Evo with 3 x Direct Contact heat-pipes CPU Cooling Fan (instead of the standard watercooling option as I dont like the idea of having it in there lol)
3. Cooler Master 600 Watts B600 B2 Gaming Power Supply, 80+ (I chose this as I picked a faster CPU)
4. Asus Xonar DGX 5.1 Channels PSI-E Sound Card (not sure if I need this upgrade for better sound quality?)

Which will all cost £583 in total.

Any advice is appreciated as to if this will be a decent PC for the games coming out this year or if I should make any changes to it. Thanks!

I can't speak for everyone i'm sure, but myself and others here would rather see you build the system yourself to save money and get better value for your money.
pre built systems aren't good value. :shadedshu:
If you don't feel confident assembling a computer, perhaps we could suggest a parts list and your local computer shop supply and assemble it for you.

Ok! I see it comes with a GTX950.

Yea, is that a decent card or out dated?

And I would up the GPU before the CPU if your gaming with it
Up it to the 960 or 70 would be ok or is the 950 gonna be ok for now?

"First gaming PC" well if you want to game with it, get a good dedicated GPU,
since intel HD530 sucks in 3d games and trust me I know that since I own a i5 6500.
It has a GTX 950 GPU, where does it say HD530? Sorry if im being oblivious

In your first post you did not mention that it had a dedicated GPU, what you did said was i5 6500 with HD graphics.
An i5 6500 has intel HD 530 graphics, which is shitty for gaming, thats what I meant.

Having the link clicked later on I read it includes a GTX950, so it does come with a dedicated GPU, which you need for gaming.

I think you can probably play all games with a GTX950, just at lower settings and lower fps.

I compare the GTX950 with my GTX770M which can still run all my games, just lower settings.

Oh right i see, so i should prob pick a better GPU then? I dont want to have to run things on low graphics :-( might aswell keep my ps4 if thats the case lol

Best would be a non-reference GTX1070 ofcourse, if it would be too expensive, you could still go with a GTX970/980

Edit: At what resolution do you play? The GTX970/980 are good for 1080p at high settings.

It will be at 1080p, i was looking at getting the 970 a week or so later and just using the intergrated intill then as i cant afford the 970 with everything else

If you buy a pre-built case, you will still need accessories like mouse, keyboard and monitor.
This pre-built at Scan is basically the same build for a lower price.
https://www.scan.co.uk/3xs/configurator/cheap-intel-gaming-pc-next-day-delivery-uk-g25i
And don't waste your money on a sound card, onboard sound is pretty good on modern boards.

It comes with a cooler master devastator keyboard and mouse combo and a msi gaming mouse with the motherboard option, i also have a 1080p 42inch tv that i will use as the monitor

I know, I'd get a lot of stick for this but in all honesty, if you are building/want a PC just for gaming, stick with a console.....I constantly get mocked by my partner, she has a PS4, and won't shut up about how often I need to restart my pc, update a driver, troubleshoot an issue, constantly monitoring temps, peripherals stop responding etc.
If you thrive on solving issues PC issues/modifying/or just in general a very handy person or perhaps you want to be productive with other things to do with PC's go for it(build/buy), if you just want to throw a disc in and play don't bother, pcmasterrace is a joke! It's not all about having a console killer, the overall gaming experience is what counts.

Rant over!

If you still decide to go for a PC, then welcome to a new adventure! it's addictive. I'll encourage you to visit PCPartpicker and see what other's have built around your budget...you'll soon see a common trend.

doing a cyberpower build for you, this is what I got using the https://www.cyberpowersystem.co.uk/system/CYBERPOWER_Z170_i5_CONFIGURATOR

case- CoolerMaster N300
cpu- I5 6600
motherboard- Gigabyte Z170 HB3
memory- 2*4gb DDR4 2400 HyperX Fury
video card- MSI GTX970
power supply- Corsair VS650
hard drive- 1 TB SATA-III
optical drive- 24* double layer dual format DVD

come to a price of £629 ex. VAT, if that's too much, dropping the video card to a GTX 960 model should help, but gaming performance will suffer

I don't know how big of a hurry you are in, but at the end of this month AMD will introduce RX 480 cards that will better the 970 (performance and power consumption) for less money.

Regarding the rest of your system, the CPU is ok, you don't need a different CPU cooler or sound card, and a good 450W PSU will be fine. Get one that is tested and dissected by a reputable site.

On the additive side you will want an SSD. At least ~250GB. I'd drop to a i3 processor and get the SSD if your budget is too tight.

I know its cheaper to do it that way but im after a PC that is pre built and stress tested so i dont have to worry about it frying itself lol. I would just like to know if this is the best I could get from this website or if theres any changes to make it any better.

Buying prebuilt is fine, even a console if you just want to game and not be bothered with technical stuff. Building it your self is not cheaper. You just get better parts and joy of building it. Plus 8/10 times it will run better because of the lack of bloatware. Prebuilt systems make there money by buying in bulk, cheap parts. Its hard to beat there price. Allot of people just buy a Dell and throw and PSU and Graphics in the case. Most people here don't do this. But Ive fried my share of parts. I love building PCs making them run faster then designed. IF you dont well probably should buy a prebuilt.

You made some changes from i3 to i5 but money would be better spent on a better graphics like the GTX960 over the GTX950. The GTX 960 is about twice as fast as the 950. Same with the 970. Thats why the price jumps so much. Sure you can wait for the next generation but there will always be a next gen.

NO. Not close. GTX 960 is only ~17% faster than a GTX 950. GTX 970 is ~55% faster than a GTX 960.

Thanks for all the replys, didnt expect so much advice!

I think i will skip buying a GPU this time and buy a GTX 970 in a couple weeks once I can afford it, ill just use the intergrated GPU untill then.

Ill keep the i5 CPU and everything else that I picked except the sound card which again, i will just use the intergrated.

Would changing the motherboard to a H110 Motherboard be a bad choice? Its abit cheaper also.

Thanks.

GTX970 prices are starting to drop now the 1070's are coming out.
A used card may be an option if the latest and fastest isn't needed.

going to a H110 board would be fine if you will not be over-clocking
