Hello guys I hope everyone is doing great

I´ll proceed to explain my situation

So I met this guy that is selling his RTX 2070 Super founders edition that he bought on ebay because its bricked. He basically told me that it was used for mining and it does not show up video. What I want to know if there is anyway to fix a card with this kind of problem, I´ve watched videos on how to fix cards like this but they are all old and I don´t know if its possible with more modern cards.

Would be important to know how it's bricked, is it a hardware defect or did the seller try to flash some special bios to it for example.

Do not touch it. If it was so easy to fix, why'd he not do it himself? Bios issues are usually due to or from the act of a bios flashing. You'd be buying into a dead card with the false hope of recovering via a bios flash. Bios flashing is wrought with issues btw, most often with users breaking their own cards by trying to flash a custom bios. There would need to be a guarantee that the card actually works before I'd even contemplate the hassle...

Good advice. Looks like more than a BIOS fix.

However OP could still buy it as long as there is a guarantee it can be returned with full refund. This way OP can check-out the card to see if it's just a BIOS problem. If more than a BIOS fault, return it within no more than 3 days

When buying non-working second hand computer parts, never attach them to your main computer, test them in a computer you don't care about.. This will prevent damage to your main computer if the device has a serious fault, EXAMPLE: blown MOSFETS.

Hellooo thanks for your answer

He says that the card does not show video but my guess is that if I use a system with integrated graphics, there might be a way to check if the system at least recognize de card.

What do you think?

I think I will try talking to him about this option, if I get him to give it to me with a guarantee refund it might be worth it

Update: I've been talking to the card owner and I came to the conclusion that he doesn't know what is wrong with the card. He told me he bought it second hand and plugged it in and it was working fine when suddenly the NVIDIA drivers started going crazy, so he uninstalled the drivers and installed them again and then the screen went black.

He sent the card to a local shop to see if they could tell him what is wrong with it, and they told him it was the BIOS. I personally think its not the BIOS and the card may be dead.

What do you guys think?

No point in buying something where you don't know for sure what's wrong with it. Unless you can get it for like, $10 and have something to play with, not worth.

And you're sure he'll give you a refund?
Well I just finished talking to him and he is not up for it. I think I can buy it for really cheap tho.

If that's the case is it worth it to sell it for parts on ebay or something?

It sounds like a big waste of time and money.

If you can get it for the cheap and want to give it a shot? Yeah why not. But count on you only losing money on this transaction. That way you wont be disappointed if you can't get it to work.
Could still be fun to try and get it to work if your in to that sort a thing. But the price has to be right. I generally only go for such things if I can get it for the price of a coffee and a doughnut basically, money I would never miss. Okay I do miss them a bit because I could have had a doughnut instead but eh, you know.
