About 100 sek more will get you the Design R4. About 100 sek less will get you the Design R3. I think this is too expensive, but they already have the Core cases so ... I'm not sure i get why this exists in the first case.

That is the ideal mid tower case IMHO, that's exactly how i picture the optimal mid tower chassis

the ONLY thing I would gripe about is that it doesn't have 3 5.25 bays up front... 1 for Blu-Ray/DVD and 2 for a dual 5.25 bay res. mid towers need dual bay reservoirs and with a nice dual 120/140 fan mount up top it's ideal for a mid tower water cooling case

I emailed them today to see if they would hint at an Arc Mini R2 but they couldn't (as expected) confirm anything, but they did suggest they're working on something.

Well why not make the BR drive an external one. Problem solved.

I emailed them to see if they'll sell me just the windowed side panel, which I assume fits the original Midi that I own. A while ago, I asked them to sell me a solid side panel, but they wouldn't. The vented side panel is the only thing I don't like about the original Midi.

I was in love with the Fractal Arc Midi, now i'm more in love with this renewed version, more watercooling options, better cable management and the optional (i guess) side window, sooooooooooooo sweet

Keep it up Fractal! =)

The Fractal Design ARC Midi R2 is an awesome case. I've used Fractal Design cases in a number of builds for some time now.

Will have to see what the whole case is made fro and how inflated the price will be by the time it arrives over here.

The previous version had 2 USB2 + 1 USB3 ports, which was pretty dumb... this one at least has 2 USB3 ports, but that's it. Why not provide 4 USB3 ports?

I think I've just met my twin =)
They told me when I emailed them that they were discussing side panel options internally, though nothing came available so far...

From what I understand from the video, they made quite some changes:
- 3+5 HDD cage configuration instead of the original 4+4
- Bottom HDD cage can be moved further inward
- Windowed side panel instead of the vented one
- Removable top and front mesh
- Different I/O panel configuration
- 2.5" mounts on the back of the motherboard tray

If only I could send them my Arc Midi and get an Arc Midi R2 at a reasonable additional fee =p

Yay! The side panel is available for purchase!

I got the following from Fractal customer service.

Hello Rylan,

Thank you for contacting Fractal Design and I’m extremely sorry for the delay. The side panel just became available. I’ve put a list together of sites where it can be found. The Arc and the Define R4 windowed panels are interchangeable.

Arc Midi / Define R4 windows can be found here:

Regarding the USB ports on the case, it appears to be reduced by one in number possibly due to the inclusion of the Fan Controller as a physical switch on the front now rather than a separate PCI card in the back of the case.

I think the previous option might have been better in at least offering a choice to keep or remove it, while now you sacrifice a port and lose that choice.

The windowed Panel with this version of the case is not optional, but standard. Being a solid window instead of a vented window offering what I think to be better looks than on other cases where they do that.

Arguable though if the loss of the side fan slot is a problem though, since I am not sure how many people really use those.

The bottom HDD cage can be relocated for extra space at the front of the case for a radiator.

The popularity of the Fractal Design cases due to their largely understated looks I thought might have prompted the release of two versions of the case, offering the choice between the window and a solid side panel.

Urza26 pretty much nailed it with that list of changes from the previous version.
