There's a 99.9% chance it is DR, as there's no chip density high enough to only populate one side of the stick and have a 16GB stick.

16 GB sticks are usually dual rank with DDR4. No, you shouldn't cancel your order. Those sticks are excellent, and will be able to perform beyond what your 5900X can provide, 1DPC board or not.

RAM overclocking on AM4 is done with monolithic Cezanne chips.

Yeah that's why DR is important (+/10%), I only want to be buying one more set of ddr4 for me for ever and I think my CPU is fine at 4000, my vengeance is if very very loosely set 20,24,24,24 obviously, I don't think I want that but Dr 3600 or above ideally 4000 though and I will hold fire here a couple of years.

Good chance that these could be single rank sticks. I have some 32GB sets of 3600 with the same timings that are indeed SR.

Check these if you want really 4000+ for REASONABLE price and if you are sure your CPU+MB WILL RUN this high. I owned them and these are cr*ppy Hynix AJR/MJR as supposed by Thaiphoon, so very bad OC but it's not that worse in stock compared to your supposed 4000.18 lol

Currently I got Kingston Fury Beast 3733.19 Hynix D-Die, they are DR and pretty stable if you try to tweak here and there compared to these 4400 Gskill. For 4400 clocks you want ideally Z chipset and K Intel CPU lol.

Only things that matter are cas latency and dimm voltage for rated frequency
In this case 4000 1.4v with cl 18x2=36 good
36 is lower than first two numbers of frequency 40

Only thing better would be 4000c16 1.4v 2x16gb

The more ranks, the harder on the memory controller it is. Typically your max achievable frequency goes down as you increase the number of ranks.

That said, Ryzen 5000 and 7000 series CPUs can see improved performance with 2 sticks of dual rank memory as the bottleneck for their memory controllers is more that it's locked to a ratio so in that instance having 4 ranks total (2 per stick) improves performance. That said you would see a drop in max frequency with 4 dual rank sticks.

When it comes to Intel, you will see your max frequency reduced but given that DDR5 7200 is the max for Intel that's usually not a big deal unless you really want to push it.

Can't seem to find info on the number of ranks for this kit. That said, you probably want to consider a DDR4 3600 kit with tight timings. Getting DDR4 4000 working on a 5900X will be a hassle unless you get a golden sample. You will reap the same level of performance at 3600 with simply tighter timings.

4 ranks, dual channel is ideal.

Whether you use 2X DR dimms or 4X SR DIMMS doesn't make much difference.

Yep, I almost bought some Crucial Ballistix that turned out to be single rank. There was a dual-rank variant of the same specs though.

No but duel rank do slightly better read write rates and can benefit game's.

I had to up from 16/32GB anyway so just wanted the option of high oc 36/3800 would be good too.

And with duel rank might be all I can do.

But I'm not after memory OC records and they cost £150 ,here tomorrow so hopefully all goes well.

iirc in the 4000+ arena for G.skill there aren't that many possibilities. They don't use much high end Micron. Traditionally these are either possibly 8Gb CJR at closer to 4000, B-die if tRCD and tRP are tight (ie. 17-18-18 and 19-19-19) and 8Gb DJR at higher speeds. Which would all be dual rank.

However, there is a new 16Gb CJR that performs like a higher clocking but looser 8Gb CJR. I don't think I've seen it in G.skill kits yet. I'm guessing it will be S820C.

As usual, there's no fooling the sticker. When you get the kit, flip it over, and the last 5 digits of the 042 code tell you all you need to know.

Yeah I waited for 4000c16 kit to drop I wasn't in any hurry
Newegg dropped the price a little more hour after I bought and they matched after I contacted support
