Gainward RTX 3070 performance problems

Hi all, I've recently buy a Gainward RTX 3070 from eBay, the seller says that the GPU "was used for 1 years at normal clock speeds in an air-conditioned environment and used for graphics rendering".

After mounted it on my system (https://pcpartpicker.com/list/yrx3BZ), that previously run with a GTX 1070, I noticed various problem.
I've also replaced the PSU, now it's a Corsair 650W.

When I try to run some games at maximum settings (I tried Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition, Dying Lights 2 and also Satisfactory) the GPU immediately reach high temperature (> 85 C°) also only in the game menu with fans that runs 100%, when I try to load the game save, FPS don't reach neither 30 and the GPU and Memory clocks seems wrong, watch this video:

Sometimes also happened that the video signal was lost and the PC freeze with the GPU fans at 100% (think that gone to temperature protection).

• I tried to replace themal paste and thermal pads, no change.
• With Afterburner I see that there aren't overclocking settings applied.
• The Nvidia Drivers are updated.
• I tried to flash a clean BIOS file (https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/227115/gainward-rtx3070-8192-201127) with nvflash but I receive the error "Adapter not accessible or supported EEPROM not found".

It's the GPU damaged or can I try something else?

Did you resolved this problem? I have same problem as you,sometimes no signal on monitor and fans 100%. I bought gainward 3070 from locally ebay and have problems like you

Can you underclock your Vram and check if anything changes? If not try to set lower clock speeds and power limit, one by one.

I underclock in MSI Afterburner vram and clock speeds, no results :/ i think gpu is broken

Hi, I've received several advise to check again the thermal paste and thermal pads.

So I reopen the GPU and effectively the thermal paste wasn't properly spread on all surface of the chip, I also noticed that the thermal pads that I've replaced first time wasn't the correct thickness (2mm instead of 1mm).

I replaced the themal pads, of 1mm this time, and I spread the thermal paste manually on all the surface of the chip (last time instead I've placed it only at the center of the chip, thinking that it will spread all over the surface when i will close the closed all).

Now the GPU works like a charm

You have to try to place the Thermal Pads on the right components and use enough Thermal Grease on the GPU Die to be shure its entirely covered. be also shure to check if the Heatsink is screwed in all the way ant that there are now gaps in between the Heatsink and the GPU Die.

If that doesnt work your last option its a bios update, if that fails too then its probably broken but you should try it in another computer just to be sure.

I change thermal pads and paste and temperature goes down - now GPU works so cool and I'm so satisfied
Problem with turning off i resolved by changing PSU from my BeQuiet 600w to 650W EVGA - maybe have a small amount of power.
