GameSir has showcased its brand new G7 Pro wireless gaming controller at this week's CES trade event, where they teased a very compelling sub-$100 price point. It seems that a lucky few have already playtested early sample units—leaks from late last year revealed the existence of Xbox and Steam variants. During a showroom visit, the TechPowerUp team discovered that GameSir had left the oft-rumored Valve-licensed "prototype" back at HQ. Fortunately, their Xbox G7 Pro model was available for close up inspection in Las Vegas—reports suggest that a launch is lined up around Spring time.

Highlights from the G7 Pro's feature list include: TMR analogue sticks (first introduced via their Tarantula series), 1000 Hz polling rate (wired on Xbox, wireless on PC), optical microswitch face buttons, two rear programmable back buttons + two programmable shoulder triggers, swappable faceplate system, and a new tactile D-pad. TechPowerUp also spent time with some other new controller models—GameSir has another affordable-tier Nova controller (white example is pictured below) incoming, as well as a retro-gray Tarantula model.

An attachable smartphone controller—featuring a Game Boy-esque D-pad and button layout—was demoed. Attendees played around with this prototype and enjoyed a throwback experience with some older 2D games, through emulators. GameSir also showcased its new generation telescopic mobile controller, the X5—reportedly heading to market later this year.

At one point during TechPowerUp's visit, GameSir CEO Shuailin Ye was spotted wielding a new lightgun controller. This has been designed for modern VR gaming.

Are TMR sticks better than hall effect? I have the G7 SE, and what I love about hall effect sticks is that I can set dead zones to 0 and have no drift.

I was hoping they'd release a wireless version, but it hasn't happened.

Supposedly. They're the next evolution in the tech... but I'd be lying if I said I had any idea what makes them better.

I've been waiting on this controller since August. Bummed they pushed it off to spring. I have hiiiigh hopes for that d-pad.

I have 2 on the back part of my 8bitdo controller and I am always accidentally hitting them when I didn't want to.
Yep, hated them on my 8BitDo Pro 2, i ended up unsoldering them from the board and hotglued the paddles on the inside so they sit flush with the housing, it's much better that way.

And it can all be undone again if needed.

Fair enough. I'm one of those people who does not and will not play FPS type games on a controller. It's mouse and keyboard or nothing.
I would play mnk but I just don't have the desk space. And sitting on my sofa is much more comfortable.

Fair enough. I'm one of those people who does not and will not play FPS type games on a controller. It's mouse and keyboard or nothing.

I was like this in the 2000s, but then I bought an Xbox 360 in 2009 and played everything with a controller. And I still do.

Many old games are definitely better on mnk (most don't even have native controller support), but there are some that are just perfect with a controller, like all Halo games in the MCC (not sure about the original versions of 1 and 2).
I'm also using KontrolFreek thumbstick extenders, which drastically increase precision.

Keyboard is very uncomfortable for me, especially in very dynamic games. For example Destiny 2 with a keyboard is an absolute nightmare. And aiming with a mouse isn't better either, as it's one of the best controller games ever.

I use one of the back buttons to sprint/heal in soulike games without having to change my grip or remove my thumb from the left analog stick.

Path of Exile 2 is another example where it's nice to control both analog sticks simultaneously while moving and aiming your abilities. It's possibly to cope without back buttons but it's much more comfortable to have them.

I just recently bought the Gamesir G7 HE and it's by far the BEST Xbox controller I've ever owned. It features Hall Effect analog sticks, Hall Effect triggers, 2 mappable back buttons, one of the best D-pads I've seen on Xbox, and tactical micro switch face buttons.

The Gamesir G7 HE doesn't feature the swappable faceplate but all the other features is why I decided to get the G7 HE instead of the G7 SE. I am excited for the G7 pro however I believe the G7 HE will probably last a while. It feels extremely solid, especially compared to the Power A fusion Pro 3 I had previously (that only lasted 9 months). The G7 HE is fully customizable via the Gamesir Xbox app and it features 3 profiles you can switch from. I have a specific profile for COD, a specific profile for Fortnite and a Specific profile for MX vs ATV legends. It's really remarkable you can adjust deadzones on triggers and analog sticks as well as button mapping. Highly recommend it
