GDV cable kills psu or mobo? (Or maybe both)

Moment before disaster:
I grabbed this one cable from the hub which was daisy chained and unlisted to another cable called GDV, I plugged in the in the un listed cable that fit into D_LED1. I tired to power the system on and the fans were not spinning still.

the disaster:
While the unlisted cable was still plugged into the D_LED1 I grabbed the daisy chained cable GDV and saw on the mobo manual that there was a 3 pin headed that could fit it but it had a “cover” using two of the pins(which I removed). It was called DLED_V_SW1 while hoping for success I heard a zap and then smelled/saw smoke coming out of the PCIE slots. The system powered down

Current state:
There is no visible damage marks on all the hardware I used during that moment, I checked top to bottom and really was looking for any clue of what component was damaged, I had no luck finding anything.

Sign of life?
When I plug in the psu and use the mobo 20pin connector it shows a green blinking (if I plug in anything it still shows the exact same thing) LED next to the audio port, the psu fan doesn’t spin and the mobo won’t even turn on any components plugged in. That green light blinks every second I’d say. Nothing else lights up like the LED lights for the cpu/VGA/BOOT just that green light that blinks endlessly

what works
Green led light turns on and blinks
Psu is giving some sort of power cause how else would the led turn on

doesn’t work
Psu fan doesn’t spin
If i plug in any other cable/ component it does nothing and the green led still blinks

Specs used during the sadness

Ryzen 5 2400g w/ stock wraith cooler
Evga 650bq bronze
Athena m2 lite

Was raining outside a bit but not crazy. Any help would be appreciated!

DLED_V_SW1 is a jumper SWitch.
A switch is not intended to have a large amount of power passed through it.
You plugged in a cable that passes a large amount of power.
Your action has undoubtedly killed the motherboard.

Next time, read the manual first.

The DLED_V_SW slots are for voltage adjustments for the DLED slots, the GDV should be plugged in the DLED slots but from the picture it seems that you needed a 3pin to 4pin adapter

Yeah sorry, so it’s just the motherboard correct?

Just unplug the GDV and try booting again, if it doensn't work its likely just the mobo
PSUs usually have protections against these situations to they don't burn themselves

I unplugged everything and only had the 20 pin connector and cpu on and it was showing the green led you can see in the picture, but the psu doesn’t spin when I try manually to power on manually or when idle

I had the cpu and ram connected and it received no power

We all screw up sometimes. Don't beat yourself up about it.

I hope the new mobo works and your PSU is ok.

I have an Athena m2 lite that’s comes with a preinstalled hub. I have plugged everything in beside the the two fans which are connected to the hub, there is only one cable left to connect but I don’t know where to plug it in.

Looks like a 3 pin daisy chained with a 3 pin GDV cable, what do I plug in and what do I leave out?

Case is Athena m2 lite
Motherboard is the Asus prime b450m-A

That port on the motherboard is not an Addressable RGB (ARGB) it is for 3V or less LED strips ONLY. That hub in the case is for 5V ARGB ports only. You can't hook it up.

The VDG/VDC you will need to contact your case maker for help.

It’s taking about led strips does this work the same for the hub?
No it does not see above, that is why you damaged your previous motherboard.

You need a motherboard with Addressable RGB ports (Upgright pins that match the connector)

@psyvc

He has a motherboard with a RGB port for 3V LED Strips only, the Case Hub is Addressable RGB (ARGB) which is a 5V circuit only, that is why the mobo got damaged.

He needs a Mobo with ARGB ports to use that hub.

RGB and ARGB ports are not interchangeable.
