Gigabyte RTX 3070 Eagle OC 8gb - High temperatures under load

Hello my friends,

I have an issue with my new graphic card Gigabyte RTX 3070 Eagle OC 8gb rev 1.0. The temperatures are extremely high under load and fans are working on 100% even after undervolting.

GPU temp is around 86 degrees after 2 minute gpu stress test with FurMark. From what I've seen in tests it should be much lower than this. I've managed to lower TDP from around 240W to ~190W during stress test but it didn't helped at all.

Without undervolting temp. is up to 90 degrees and card sounds like a vacuum even with opened side panel on my case. It is better when I cut the power limit to 95%, then it's around 75 degrees but performance is much lower.

Is this normal behaviour and this Gigabyte gpu has so bad cooler ? Do you have any clues what should I change to lower the temps or just return the card to seller ?

Please give me some tips, what should I do ?

I appreciate all the help.

Thanks a lot.

Well, this test has been made with opened side panel on my case, so it shouldn't be relevant. Ambient temperature is 19/21 degrees.

All the fans are spinning.

I believe it's somewhat of the budget 3070s..

GPU's like the MSI Gaming X-Z and such seemingly have better cooling.

Furmark is not a game, what are your temps when you play games? That's more important then furmark...

While gaming, temps are up to 80 degrees with fans at 85-90%

I was thinking about buying the asus strix edition but TDP is much higher on this card with very small amount of performance increase. That is why i thought that with low TDP on this gigabyte there won't be any problems with high temps :/ Especially after undervolting.

These are the GPU's tested by TPU, not one of them hits 80C...

and try to replace the thermal pads and paste if that's possible.

It will probably void your warranty...

I would just return it if possible and then buy another one...

Thank you for that info good sir :)

I'll get in touch with a seller and try to replace the thermal pads and paste if that's possible.

If not, then I'll just return it.

Greetings !
I'd just return it instead of having to do all that extra work.

80C while gaming is totally fine. My 3060ti hits >90C on stock.

I don't like 80C+ hot running GPU's , also the GPU itself will clock down because of it's high temperature and as result you get less fps than a much cooler running GPU.....

Also GPU's running around an acceptable 60 degrees may live much longer.....

Have exactly the same problem with my 3070 Eagle OC. Yesterday I opened it up and changed the thermal paste. I also noticed that some of the thermal pads were displaced and damaged (I bought this GPU used), I tried to fix it a bit, but need to replace them. But anyway, after changing the thermal paste and adjusting the thermal pads, temps lowered from 86-87 degrees to 78-79 (in FurMark). I guess it could be even better with new thermal pads.

Why not using FurMark? I am not running it for hours, just few minutes. And my 3070 Eagle OC showed the same temps in games, that's why I got worried.

Believe you. I have 100% same problem with Gigabyte 3070 Ti gaming oc. Replaced pads (Arctic and Deepcool) and MX6 paste. For one week played max 75c. Now I'm with the bad temps again. Maybe I'm wrong for this...im not use x2 single 8pin cables. Also use Corsair RMx 650W. I will try with 2 cables 8pin. The PSU it not a problem I think.

Cool your cases better, that includes chilling the air before it goes in the case
