I bought a Western Digital SN700 1TB nvme to use in my Gigabyte B450M-DS3H rev 1 motherboard but get stuck at the Gigabyte splash screen. could this be a bios issue as my motherboard is using F31 bios from 2019?

Thank for any help

It could be but first make sure that your motherboard is trying to boot from your OS SSD and not your new unformatted SSD. Typically F11 will access the boot menu but you can enter BIOS and do a boot override as well.

Thank you for the quick reply...much appreciated

My motherboard only has 1 m.2 slot......I've done more research and see a bios update that upgrades ssd capability....so I need to do a series of bios updates.

Let us know if that works and we can continue from there if needed.

Why? Just update it, having the most recent bios is always recommended especially with Ryzen platforms.

so I need to do a series of bios updates.
Nope, just update to the most recent one. They aren't like you need to update every version from current to the newest one.

Sometimes there is a specific order in updating BIOS. Very rare but it will be written on BIOS file list page which version has the requirement.
