Gigabyte z97x gaming 5 and Help

Hello guys
Own this board GA-Z97X-Gaming 5 (rev. 1.0) for long time and last night my SSD down

Now in my mind is to get m2 and list as below
Samsung 860 EVO M.2 SATA 250GB
Western Digital WD Green SATA 6Gb M.2 2280 240GB

May i know which one is support my board and which is better ?

It'll work. You won't get nvme speeds though.

Why is that? The data sheet of the board says there's 1 PCI-e m.2 slot, which I suppose should work at PCI-e 3.0 x4 spec.

OP: That SSD looks awfully slow for a PCI-e nvme drive. I'd choose one with PCI-e x4 interface if I were you - unless you really don't care, and you can get this SSD a lot cheaper than you would others.

It's not full NVME. You'll get at most 700-1000MB/s from it. Tried this on multiple Z97 boards and multiple NVME drives.

In that case, OP's choice of PCI-e x2 SSD will do, I guess.

It was better to use a PCIe to NVME card. I would get closer to native speeds doing that than using the NVME port on the board itself. Still could boot off it too.

Doesn't matter what you pick. Just get a drive and be done. All M.2 will work.

That site looks dodgy as hell. You're from Asia?

Every m.2 ssd will work in m.2 ssd slot (unless mobo aib is dumb and messing things up). Only thing you need to check is lenght on m.2 drive. Check mobo size support for m.2.

Wow, the specs and manual don't even say what bandwidth that slot is
It could be PCI-E 2.0 x2 for all we know (edit: that is standard for Z97, with some boards making it 2.0 x4 if you disable SATAe)

Other Z97 boards state it's a "10Gb NVME slot" which is 1.2G5B/s max, which on some boards can be doubled if you disable SATA Express ports (or certain SATA ports) in the BIOS

What do you mean?
Some boards let you get higher bandwidth by disabling other features in the BIOS. Yours may not.
