Hi, I just built a PC with the AsRock B650M-HDV/M.2 and an MSI RTX 3080 SUPRIM X 10 GB graphics card.

What I forgot to consider was the size of that graphics card. There is just enough space (I think) to insert my Asus Xonar Essence STX into the lowest PCIe slot, but it will no doubt block airflow to a couple of the fans on the 3080, as it will almost come in contact with it.

So I thought it could be a good solution to try this riser card with cable, so that I can move the placement of the sound card. (Power to the sound card will still be provided via a 4-pin molex connector which I have connected to my PSU).

Any thoughts? Does it look like a good solution? Do you know of any issues I haven't considered?

Would be interesting if this behind the board cable trend produced a standardized means of handling x1/x4 slots that are all but pointless inclusions on any board specifically designed for gaming. Seeing as every modern GPU requiring a power cable is the only card you can feasibly mount anywhere but EATX.

Just did this for my 7900's tri-slot cooler.

The riser linked in OP will probably be too tall. This one was the skinniest/shortest I could find, and it *just* fits.

I chose the half-meter one so, I could run it 'up' between my GPU and PCIe-slotted NVME, then 'back and over' the GPU.
-the actual slot rests atop my boot m.2, and the sound card installed has a single mobo standoff @ the bracket.
