GTX 1050 Ti PerfCap Vrel

Hi,

there is something I do not understand and I do hope there is somebody who is able to enlighten me ...

I ran a GTX 1050 Ti using an older mainboard and a not very powerful powersupply. The problem was, that despite the GPU load was at some 50 percent, PCIe Slot Voltage went down to slightly above 2 volts and PerfCap got active showing Vrel.

Well, I got myself a new mainboard and a new 750W powersupply, but the problem did not go away.

I do not understand why the GTX 1050 Ti ends at 50 percent GPU load. Shouldn't it be able to run up to 100 percent?

And why is that voltage dropping down? And what voltage is meant? The one of the PCIe 16x slot? The one of the 6-pin connector? I already measured the voltage at the 6-pin connector using a DMM and it showed some 12 volts, even with old and weaker power supply.

Thanks in advance.

I was under the impression that GPU-Z provided all required data.

But of course there is nothing about the mainboard which is a ASUS ROG STRIX Z270F.

Mate we can't help you unless you tell us EVERYTHING you have in that case and monitor.

Well, I do not think that RAM and CPU are involved in supplying electrical power to the GTX 1050 Ti and considering the fact that I told you that the GTX 1050 Ti caused the very same problem in a totally different system (which excludes all components from being the cause of the problem), but ...

- power supply: 750W
- mainboard: ASUS ROG STRIX Z207F
- RAM: 2 x DDR4 8GB (PC4-29800)
- CPU: Intel Core i5 6400 2.7 GHz
- storage: Samsung M.2 SSD 850 EVO 256 GB
- GFX: GTX 1050 Ti 4G

Now, there is nothing more in that case except for the cables and air.

The monitor is 1680 x 1050 and is connected via HDMI.

Anything I might have forgotten?

I had Vrel issues on my gtx 1060 when it was overclocked, now it's undervolted and I don't get the issue anymore.

Hi, I'ld call this an interesting hint, but I didn't configure any overclocking. In fact this PC was set up from scratch, just Windows, drivers and stuff the games brought with them. Maybe the GTX 1050 Ti is overclocked by default? But it would be senseless if it throttles itself at some 50 percent GPU load.

To be honest I was hoping for - erm, a bit more. In fact I thought that those who write GPU-Z were able to tell without thinking to what PCIe Slot Voltage refers to and why it might go that down on a quite actual mainboard by using a graphics card that is way behind the power consumption of more recent ones. Well, maybe I'll stumble about the necessary piece of information by chance. Best and CU.
