Hard crash

So I was playing multiplayer MW2 and then it crashed and reset my pc. As in back to before the bios screen like I'd just turned it on. None of my RGB turned off though. Any thoughts? Also whats the command to see all your whea errors?

Event Viewer > Custom Views > Admin Events > sort alphabetically by Source

I don't think I've had that sort of a crash on MW2 yet (just crash to desktop, of which there have been many because it's still very buggy).

I had a few on MW19 but not because of the game. Hard reboots you generally can't blame on the game, culprit is usually RAM stability. Check with TM5

PSU either has OCP issues or it's not PSU at all. 850w is plenty.

MW2 and other games in the series has so many issues as is. Best thing to try is all stock first.

That game has a lot of crashing issues, but it shouldn't restart the computer. I usually get 1-2 crashes and COD Dev are aware of this with twitter posts about it.

I had this same problem with GTA5. Troubleshooted the software side of things from Adam'n'Eve to Donald Trump (reinstalled game, reinstalled Windows... the full works). In the end, it was the 3600Mhz 16CL kit running @ XMP. Manually tweaked at the same spec and it worked like a charm. Funny enough, with the XMP profile applied the system had zero problems running any other game and smooth-sailed stress tests (prime/aida/realbench and a bunch of GPU benchers), etc. Anyway this may just be one possibility amongst many. If you've overclocked your memory, try dialing down a bit and see how that works out.

Just an FYI the trick with all logs is context. Just like conversation.

In this case finding the shutdown event is important. but we want to look at what happened BEFORE the event occured to give us clues as to WHY.

Is auto restart turned off??
System properties - advanced - startup and recovery settings

if you get a bsod then it should come up instead of just restarting.

Thank you all. I do have my memory over clocked, but I don't have a clue what I'm doing with it. I'll check in tomorrow after I've done some testing as per usual, I've got an error and gone to bed before I fetch my bag of hammers.

how can someone overclock RAM and start using the actual operating system with personal files on it before at least validating it with Memtest (1000%) and something like y cruncher afterwards.

Yeah back in the day blue screams could and would cause all kinds of damage to data. I cannot tell you the amount of screenshots, saved music, vids, you name it that got corrupted back in the old days. Now its not so bad. You mostly just hurt the OS, instead of your stuff.

Yep, I've destroyed a few OSes lol. I just use a spare OS SATA drive now for my memory overclocking until I know its 100% stable.

Just so you all know, I DID verify the memory overclock was fine with memtest 5, longest cycle. When I got my 6900XT, I saw all these buttons with overclock CPU and GPU on them and I wanted all the performance from them so I let Adrenaline overclock them. Please give me some credit, I'm not completely devoid of all thought...

Post your Zentimings with your current OC. Will take a look it at again.

You can also use HWINFO64 to check for WHEA errors.

WHEA 18 is either CPU Vcore or GPU related.

WHEA 19 is more realted to IF or FCLK.

Memory still looks fine.

Try TRAS 42 and RC 63 also a small bump in VDIMM 1.42V.

Run your GPU stock and see if you get anymore crashes.

Right I'll do that now. GPU has a custom fan curve and nothing else.

I just did that, then got a BSOD as it was restarting.

Try running just XMP or with XMP off.
RAM still looks fine to me.

To make sure its not the RAM you can run a few cycles of TM5 again. 25 is recommend but if you pass 5/10 cycles then it should not crash in games.

Any chance you removed your RAM when you installed your new CPU? If you did try swapping the position.

It can make a difference it will either make things better or worse.
