A few months ago I purchased a tp-link 5 port gigabit poe network switch (TL-SG1005p) because I needed more ethernet connections from the one slot available but as of the last month or two the speed randomly goes from our full 1 gigabit speed to around 40-90 mbps and stays there until I unplug the ethernet from the switch wait around 5-10 seconds then plug it back in then it goes back up to full speed for a short period of time then eventually evens back out and stays around 40-90 download but full upload speed, I've replaced the ethernet cable that goes from the modem to the switch and that didn't seem to fix it, (I checked the modem device web panel there is no bandwidth throttle on anything) If I plug just my computer into the ethernet port that connects the modem to the switch instead I get the full speed just fine 24/7 but I need to have the extra ethernet ports for other devices + wifi box that's plugged into the switch and I'm not sure if it's a common issue that's fixable somehow or if I just need to straight up replace the switch but any help would be greatly appreciated!
Seems like it's mistaking a 1 gigabit incoming connection from the modem for a 10/100mb connection until it's re-plugged, the indicator led's show it as green whenever it's been freshly powered on or unplugged and replugged into it's ethernet source then swaps over to a yellow indicator led indicating 10/100mb connection after a while and there is no factory reset button or any switches, not sure of any way to spoof it into permanently staying a 1 gigabit connection either.
(edit 3) The networking solution in this house is a little wonky since it's a really large house, we have a 1gigabit comcast business package and their generic modem going into 2 large network switches downstairs that run into wall outlets around the house and only one of the wall outlets work over in the area I'm in, I'm assuming it's all cat5e cables ran from the modem to the switches to the wall plugs and I have all cat 6 ethernet cables plugged into the switch and all connecting devices to the switch (I know it's kinda redundant since the ethernet source is cat5e but it was around the same price and figured I'd take them with me in future moves and not need to buy new ethernet cables if they had more modern alternatives with higher than 1gigabit available) but hopefully this extra info helps in some way with determining the issue and if I need to replace the poe switch or not.
