after a power outage HDD doesn't turning on and making sound like the head inside it turning right and left 2x and then spin up a bit and spin down for more than 3 times, I tried to replug the SATA and power connector and it did the same spin up and down sound but this time I was able to use OS. and if I shutdown the comp and start HDD does the same spin up & down sound 7~8 times then it just shuts off but comp stays on. is it a hdd problem or motherboard? should I replace it? adobe photoshop files are corrupted too, it doesn't run just stays at crashes at loader screen.

There is no conceivable way I would ever trust that HDD to function reliably and correctly even if I could get it to spin up and read data.

I'd replace it and put that computer on a UPS.

Your data, your call, your headache. If you had a UPS, you probably would not have made this post.

You are welcome for the advice, that's what you asked for.

No one here is going to tell you that you should expect many years of error-free and reliable service from that HDD.

Try a different sata cable and power connector if not done so already.

I dont have spare sata cable, I tried to use the power connector from other cable coming from psu but it didn't work, I also tried different sata port

it is so strange it works good after I completely turn off the comp and disconnect all the cables then hold power button 15 seconds and after firing it up hdd does some spin up and down while booting windows and after around 5~10 minutes it just works normally without any strange sound

Hi,
Restoring a system image on the hdd would be the first thing I'd try or if you have a clone or files on a backup hdd just replace the corrupted files but this would take a lot of time.

System imaging is free and easy now days but another hdd is needed to hold it obviously so there is some additional costs but back up is mandatory if you care about your data that is.

Sure UPS i get it but backups is what sounds like the issue well that a long with trusting ANY kind of storage devices.

Always make backups, and if the data is worth it find some one who can restore the data from it.

Hi,
Cloud will work to transfer speed is usually crap
I don't use it for anything I care about since I have local backups.

Since my files aren't very large, the transfer speed didn't matter to me

How about a good surge protector?

it is so strange it works good after I completely turn off the comp and disconnect all the cables then hold power button 15 seconds and after firing it up hdd does some spin up and down while booting windows and after around 5~10 minutes it just works normally without any strange sound

Makes me wonder about the power supply

One of these with a spare storage device is a cheap answer to data security. They are also great when storage devices malfunction ... for whatever reason I have been able to recover malfunctiong storage devices when connected to one of these , when having already failed when connected o SATA.

Every storage device can fail ....

Things sitting on shelf in my office as a reminder ....

SSHD 1 ..... died after 9.5 years
SSHD 2... died after 1 week, replaced under warranty
SSD 1 .....died after 3.5 years
SSD 2 ... died after2,5 years, replaced under warranty
SSD 3 .... warranty replacement for above ... died after little over a year

Have other piled there, but they were mostly retired as machines were upgraded.

Avoid a sense of complacency after buying big box store surge protector. If your wallet didn't feel a bit of a pinch, it will when the thing craps out

Having to repeatedly plug and unplug a HDD to get it to work was one of the problems I had with my Toshiba HDD that recently died. I'd vote to replace it or at least make sure I have regular backups of everything important on the HDD in question
