Hello.
Today i got my new cpu mobo rams and ssd
Mobo: msi b650 tomahawk
Cpu: 7800x3d
Gpu: 3060ti
Rams: gskill trident neo 6000mhz cl30
Psu: 750w chietronic gold

So i got these, i started to install these components. First i did flashback with usb disk 32gb i changed the file name to msi.rom
My psu was connected to mobo i install bios i think cuz i saw white led and then it stopped. So after this i added every component and booted my pc. Pc booted but to my monitor i was getting no signal, it was black screen. Then i tried to boot without gpu, didnt work
I tried to boot with only 1 ram it didnt work. From debug i see red and yellow lights (cpu and dram)
At some point i took off cmos battery, waited couple of minutes and then put it back. Didnt work. Now i have taken all the components off. Trying to bios update again with psu and mobo. I think i fked up…

Common flashback mistakes is

1: wrong file name
2: wrong USB drive format
3: wrong USB port
4: wrong MB BIOS (wrong version of the MB).

Check the manual and or supporting BIOS flash documentation to make sure you are doing it correctly.

That should be the correct BIOS for that MB. https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/MAG-B650-TOMAHAWK-WIFI/support#bios

Updating BIOS with Flash BIOS Button
1. Please download the latest BIOS file that matches your motherboard model from the MSI® website.
2. Rename the BIOS file to MSI.ROM, and save it to the root of the USB storage device.
3. Connect the power supply to CPU_PWR1 and ATX_PWR1. (No need to install CPU and memory.)
4. Plug the USB storage device that contains the MSI.ROM file into the Flash BIOS Port on the rear I/O panel.
5. Press the Flash BIOS Button to flash BIOS, and the LED starts flashing.
6. The LED will be turned off when the process is completed.

Follow the steps. It should NOT take more than 10 minutes. I suggest also formatting the USB to FAT32 just in case. My guess why its blinking for 40 minutes is because its looking for a file or compatible flash drive. You don't need to clear the CMOS or take out the battery for ever failed attempt.

Either the motherboard is the issue or you are. Walk through the steps again. Correct USB PORT is important. I highly recommend formatting the USB drive to FAT32 as well.

If you can't get it to work, RMA the MB or bring it to a local shop and see if they can figure out what's wrong.

Hi! AM5 platform has many buggy earlier BIOS revisions. One problem with a factory BIOS might be that there's no signal from the dGPU before reaching the OS. Connect your monitor to the iGPU when doing the first install - perhaps you did this already though. I have the same mobo and I can say the latest BIOS 7D75v17 is fine, which you are likely trying to install.

i have an MSI X570S and unless they’ve made some major changes, which I doubt, there is n reason to rename anything. Just unpack the file and copy the file that’s the bios version name to a USB. I have swapped BIOS for mine quite recently trying to isolate an issue.
Here is my BIOS flash page with my USB of all my BIOS

Try different usb pendrive if this does not help, you got some faulty component send to you.

My Asrock b650 didn't read old pendrive but no problem with the second one.

The problem the op is having makes it impossible to use the screen. Need new BIOS for X3D CPU.

A different USB drive might be the solution.

i think i found the problem but i cant test it right now. On manual, it says if i want to flashback to latest bios version i have to plug in cpu_pwr1 and atx_pwr1 only... But i plugged in cpu_pwr1 and cpu_pwr2 together with atx_pwr1. Maybe this was the problem. I can test it on monday

Sorry to say but that's not it. Extra power isn't the problem.

I had issues with the 1.0.0.7c BIOS as well, or well the B550 equivalent anyway. I had to flash back too. The 1.0.0.8 BIOS dropped a few days ago for my mobo, I upgraded to that and its been a flawless experience, just had to turn on XMP and turn off the MSI Utility Installer, haven't had any issues this time.

You might want to consider the latest BIOS ending in number 8, should be available now.
