How do i prevent win explorer to (auto) open window showing content of iso.

Im using isos on ssd so i dont need the disc loaded for gameplay (hate the ODD noise), but getting tired of windows opening an explorer window by itself,
to show content of the disc.
and yes, autoplay disabled, other settings to not do anything.

You know thats wild, because that hasn't happened to me in several formats; I didnt think it was the default anymore, and I dont modify the behavior myself at all.

They certainly mount in explorer when I tell them to; but they never pop a window by themselves.

You have to set the behavior at least once to open explorer or something like do nothing. I don't remember how to change it back though as I just change the file association if it's annoying.

I assume you set all 3 settings to take no action, not just move the slider to off..

You need to change the file (iso) association as well.

im on 10.
and i went thru control panel, so even those not shown in settings are disabled/on "do nothing".

only have Auto Insert is enabled in ImgBurn, but thats not doing this, as i use it for 20y, ignoring i did toggle it to check.

@rohitpiot
never did that before, neither on 7 or 10 installs, and it didnt behave like that.
besides, no .iso shown in settings.

You don't need go through the classic control panel in Explorer, go to "settings" from the main windows menu (right click) & change the AutoPlay setting from there. It should be available on win 10 as well, for iso you need to change it from file properties ~

Again right click on iso file and properties should be the last option.

one of the first things i do after fresh install, so to clarify: its disabled on the settings page, as well as any option thru control panel.
and why would i want to change it (to something different)?
i do want/did before use explorer to mount them virtually, just not opening a (new) window to show content.

Because by default Explorer will open the file, if you don't want to open it in explorer don't double click.

This is the same as zip files.

i use right click>mount, not double click.

no problem with trying things, but why would i want to remove it, since i need the iso mounted for the game to see the files (and verify serial).
