How much cpu temps go up overclocking ram?

Hi,

Got an old 7600K rig using at my girlfriends house. Want to give it a boost and replace 2400mhz ram
with 3000 or 3200 mhz ram but uncertain the current cooler can handle it. Got a low profile Thermalright
AXP-100 H Muscle in there and wonder if the temps will go up beyond what it can handle if
I raise SA IO volts? Already have a modest overclock curtesy of the msi motherboard auto OC program.

Thanks

What are the temps at now under load, and what are all the volts set to? Also, looking at the product page for that cooler, Thermalright lists it at 180W TDP, and that 7600K is rated at 91W, so in theory should have some head room.

Benchmark Scores Faster than yours... I'd bet on it. :)
So long as the system agent or vccio doesn't go up, it won't at all. If the SA or IO voltage needs to be raised to make the ram stable, it may go up a couple of degrees.

Its set at 1.28 volts @ 4.2Ghz. Temps vary per core between 70 to 75 degrees under prime load.

Just so you know, there will be minimum gains going from 2400 to 3000mhz RAM in almost most applications and games unless you're benchmarking and specifically looking for higher scores, not sure why you think your CPU cooler couldnt handle a bump in RAM speed either, what exactly are you looking to gain from spending money unneccisarily on slightly faster RAM?

Well I saw a comparison of 2400mhz ram compared to 3000 mhz and there were about 5 fps gains at least in regards to 1080p gaming. Since ram is cheap I thought why not.

Thanks

5fps is nothing. Either you are barely getting by and going from 20 to 25 or you are cruising at 60+ and now getting 65+. You would be better off OC the 7600k. Your temps are cool for prime and the 7600k OC easily to 4.9ghz+ (I owned one).
