How to get Legion Pro 7 16IRX8H stabe with [default] Performance mode

Hello everyone.

Even though my topic is related to a GPU issue, I wondered if Throttlestop could help me out, since it's most likely an issue due to power mangement.

I'm running into the issue that on my Legion Pro 7 16IRX8H with the BIOS Performance Mode Setting set to [Default] my GPU (RTX 4080, default settings) keeps resetting with the following error:

The description for event ID "153" from the source "nvlddmkm" was not found. Either the component that triggers this event is not installed on the local computer, or the installation is corrupted.

You can install or repair the component on the local computer. If the event occurred on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.

The following information was stored with the event:
\Device\Video3
Error occurred on GPUID: 100

The message resource exists, but the message was not found in the message table

To get it to be stable i have to set it to [Extreme] which brings quite an increase in temperature (6-10°) for the same performance.
I also tried cleaning drivers with DDU, without success though.

So I wondered:

1. What aside from the temperature and therefore mostlikely power output is the difference between the two modes?
2. What might be the actual reason for the GPU/driver to time out?
3. Is there a way to fix this via Throttlestop power management?
