I'm still trying to figure out why they haven't purged this off of the internet. All of the enthusiast communities are having a field day tearing them to pieces over this. It's embarrassing.

If they're smart, they'll actually address all of the mistakes. Just be like "Yeap... ...we really fucked that one up. And here are all of the things we did wrong." Seems like they're going the way of the ostrich instead. Guess credibility and accountability aren't of concern for The Verge.

Have to agree with you all, this kid is complete amateur. But he seems to have potential.

@4:13 He didn't use a space to screw down the NVMe drive, he screwed it directly to the mobo. Rookie mistake..
@4:39 He states that "which lane you choose depends entirely on what other parts you're going to put in the system" which is patently false as most mobo's are wired with 16 PCIe lanes closest to the CPU socket and 8x for the others. Misinformation ignorantly disseminated. Another rookie move.
@7:18 "And now we have an exposed cpu holder or slot on the motherboard" Really? So it's not a socket then? And if you need the "CPU installation tool" you shouldn't be installing CPU's or building PC's.
There are so many other things wrong with this build I could do this all day..
I find it very curious that comments are disabled for that video, almost as if they knew that video was going to get a metric crap-ton of criticism. Hmmm..

Don't forget that there is a new demographic of young streamers that are experts at the use of Twitch and Discord + game in question but suck at anything practical like building a rig. They find these vids and start following this advice.

This is why we get the topics we do on TPU. And its why we have a clubhouse topic of nasty things that include stickers left on heatsinks plus a metric ton of paste between it.
