Just to start off, I must say I really only play CSGO and Minecraft so I don't need a beast GPU.

Currently, I have a GT710 installed with GeForce Experience drivers. Next week I would like to upgrade to a GTX750Ti. How should I do this, should I uninstall all NVIDIA software and then switch to onboard GPU for the new drivers, or just pop in the new card?

Also, I am stuck with a proprietary PSU non ATX format, and it is a 320W 90% efficiency. The PC is a rather beastly HP ELITE 8300 CMT. Would I be able to run a low power 75W GTX 950?

Thanks friends.

What are the rest of your specs (CPU, memory, etc)?

Can you post a picture of the label on the PSU? What is crucial here is knowing how many Amps are on the 12V rail.

Chances are, you can go to a GTX 960 pretty easily. I wouldn't go less than that for 1080 gaming, CSGO and minecraft considered. I assume you have a 6 or 6+2 pin PCIe connector from the PSU, righT?

That's the PSU label. I do not have any GPU power connector so I was looking at the bus powered cards. Specs are listed under my pc specs.

Thank you!

To upgrade to a new card, with your old card still in your system uninstall your drivers via the Control Panel. Then run DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) in safe mode (there's an "upgrade/install new GPU option" use that). Power down, install new card, boot up and install the latest drivers.

You can get DDU here: http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html

Whoa.. didn't click on the link...

750ti...I guess... that's a shame...it's an incremental upgrade.

950 is probably pushing it...

I see. So It is not worth pushing for a low power GTX 950 and I should stick to a 750Ti?

Sorry, you mentioned a low power one... 75W and what CPU is in there?

EDIT: HOLD THE PHONE... your PSU picture says the 12vMAIN and 12vCPU shall not exceed 320W. It shows, if its a dual rail (likely single no OCP), that there are up to 16A on each rail... not to exceed 320W. Id easily run a full power 950 or even a GTX 960(120W) with a stock CPU... I bet that wouldnt break 200W total with both running full tilt. ;)

Someone confirm I am not blind there...

Yeah a 75w GTX 950 would be ideal. I have a Core i5 3470 @ 3.2 GHz

Someone please confirm that EarthDog is correct so I can buy this 950 :D:D:D

I'd get a RX460 if possible. The power in that little thing is pretty damn good though a decent PSU might be needed, not sure.

I can get a good deal on the low power ASUS GTX 950. Can anyone confirm I can run this with EarthDog's info?

I have said multiple times you can run a low power 950 with no issues. I am trying to have people double check you can run a 960 on it. I am 90% sure you can. So again, yes a 950 will be fine.

I just want to make sure I am not stressing this PSU too much to where it starts to heat up and whine!

I see. I was worried that the new GPU would over stress my PSU causing system failure down the road.

You have 320 watts to work with. Your CPU takes 95 watts. Even if the rest of your system takes 50 watts, you still have 175 watts for a GPU. (No, I didn't say you can run a 175 watt GPU)
A GTX 750 Ti or bus powered GTX 950 is a no brainer - they'll work. (and I'd think that a GTX 950 is all you need)
A GTX 960 might work, you just have to see if you have a connector or 2 that you can use an adapter with to power it.

Thank you man. Really appreciated. Another forum is telling me I need at least a 500w PSU. They are saying my gaming keyboard mouse with LEDS and my Elgato HD60 (USB2.0) that I use to stream will make cause the system to draw more than 320w. Is this correct, or are they idiots? lol

Just do it.

Edit: There's always a chance that a proprietary system such as yours does something that we can't expect. But it should work.

Edit2: Went looking for that PSU. It appears that it comes with a 6 pin PCI-e connector. Link Not sure what they're doing...
