Hi, My HP 8770w-LY561EA (i5 3320M/8GB/AMD FirePro M4000)
My GPU was artefact at present.
But I was confused to determine the replacement.
When I read the HP Service Manual, there I did not find it, even including my default FirePro M4000.
I honestly want to upgrade with this GPU:
AMD FriePro M5100
My Question, Will it match my Notebook?
Here, I just have 2 options : Back to M4000 again or Up to M5100

I would appreciate your help..Thank You

(Sorry about my bad English)

There are some units with FirePro M4000 but I have no idea why it wasn't included in the manual/service guide. The only card is M5950 which I have in my 8560w but it's an older GPU.

The problems with going to a M5100 is drivers and the GPU BIOS.

I think the best solution is to stay with M4000 but be careful to get one with HP branded BIOS or you will maybe have to flash it!
The other solution is to buy a used NVIDIA heatsink and change to an NVIDIA card, these are your options:
● NVIDIA Quadro 3000M, N14E-Q1 2 GB dedicated GDDR5 video memory
● NVIDIA Quadro 4000M, N14E-Q3 2 GB dedicated GDDR5 video memory
● NVIDIA Quadro 5010M, N14E-Q5 4 GB dedicated GDDR5 video memory
But the same applies, check vBIOS version (HP, Dell, MSI etc.)

M5100 and M4000 are MXM A cards. Assuming you truly have a 8770W, go for a M6100 or similar, I don't know if itll work however. Check notebookreview forums for a upgrade list.
Asssuming you have a 8570W, then go for a M5100.

I have no plan to change and buy new Heatsink..
Its sound, stay to FirePro M4000 is the best option.
Assuming I buy an AMD FirePro M4000 card without "HP Branded" ones,
Does it still to flash my vBIOS too??
Hopefully, it will not :)

It's best if you check the part number of your existing GPU and find the same (a 8770w pull - there are plenty on ebay).

If you want better cards the only way is to get a used heatsink for NVIDIA cards and use a Quadro which is supported.
Everything else includes moded drivers and BIOS flashing (it won't always work depending on the GPU model) and I don't recommend it if you plan to use the laptop for any serious work!
