I am trying to decide... should I use my 3x 120mm Antec Storm fans or stock fans for my MSI AIO in a NZXT H710 top intake?

well I got the NZXT H710 PC case in black/red theme about 4-5 months ago, its been sitting in the box since it arrived... I decided to put my 5800x3d build in it, I must say this case is a major upgrade from corsair 110q. the quality of the side panel has a "special polish" that just makes it look higher end somehow, the glass panel fitting on it is very innovative in the way it comes off, also I like the spring loaded button for the other panel, and the thing I like most about my only two owned ever NZXT products is they came with no "chemical smell". usually when I get a new tech gadget, there is always that horrible chemical smell at first...both my NZXT monitor and now case had a "polished and feel high quality" look to the plastic and metal part... so my guess is they take care of this smell before it ships out. I like that attention to detail, it just makes the new build so much more pleasant to do.

Can't believe I only paid $60 for this case, honestly was not in the market for a new case, but when I saw that deal I jumped on it since it was shipped and sold by Amazon, plus I was always unhappy with how smothering the 4 silent panels on the corsair 110q were to temps. honestly really happy with it now that I finally got it out of the box and going, will post pics next week over on the show your current pc thread or w.e it is called - long story short, I am very happy with this $60 upgrade. I only ever got the corsair 110q case years ago because have silent padded panels always sounded so cool to me... boy was I dumb, it always hurt my temps. its just too small of a case to not have extra airflow.

last praise for this case: it came with insanely well done cable management... I have never done cable management well before, so seeing how well this has been done before its shipped to the consumer was truly mind blowing. its so clean...

so my plan is to not mess up the cabling, put the MSI 360mm aio at the top of this case as intake. this case doesn't really support exhaust at the top, as its side holes not top holes... i don't think it will matter, because i will have a strong fan curve on the rear 140mm exhaust. so the heat from the AIO won't have a chance really to hit my gpu as this case is so spacious.

now my question is, do I do my 3x antec storm fans on the AIO or the stock fans the cooler comes with?

antec storm above

and msi fans below

now the MSI fans look like this

i think maybe the gaps between the fans might hurt some of the intake airflow because it might try to draw some of the air in from the case itself... the antec storm fans won't have this gap.

either way, i will have 3 fans collecting dust in storage... so which is best? I am disabling RGB either way. it distracts me.

maybe i should just slide the rad in front and use the stock case fans?

That case is kinda a hot box but top mounted is probably most ideal for longevity and noise purposes even with the slightly higher temps due to the gpu exhausting into it.

Front fans are already going to struggle due to the small amount of intake area so adding a rad to that equation is probably not the best idea.

gamersnexus gave this case a surprisingly good review, also i will be doing intake from top, so the heat from gpu will get suck out by rear exhaust.

do i put the fans above the rad or below the rad, if i do intake and mount on top?

I would test both scenarios for me the gpu temps where much better with top exhaust in that old H700 I did a build in ages ago. Also 360 radiator in top. You will likely at some point want to get better fans especially if you plan on putting a gpu that consumes over 300w in there.

the side holes seem to make top exhaust very difficult, i feel the air will bounce off top of case and back into radiator... i think maybe i will slide radiator in front of case, the 3 pre0installed fans i will leave them there...

then i will do 3 intake fans at top as well, antec storms. and the 1 rear exhaust will have a very strong fan curve to suck the heat out.

this case is tricky, because the side holes at top...

The build I did in it was a 5800X/2080 super temps were good.... Worse than my 011 Dynamic XL but decent. As long as you fully populate it you will be fine either way and if you don't mind a bit of noise it will perform just fine.

I still think fans will have an easier time pushing air out the top vs trying to use them as intake through the radiator.

Depends on static pressure, higher static pressure fans are really good for passing air through obstructions such as radiators and heatsinks
