I-O Data Japan introduced a new high-capacity 2 TB model of its AVHD-PU external hard drives that gel well with your TV, packing DVR capabilities, supporting a variety of TVs across brands such as Sony, Toshiba, Sharp, etc. Called the AVHD-P2.0U, the drive joins the ranks of older 500 GB and 1 TB models, which were launched back in April. The drive provides 2 TB of unformatted capacity, and can format itself to a file-system your TV supports. It connects to compatible TVs using USB 2.0, and relies on the same connection for power. Measuring 79 x 23 x 134 mm (WxDxH), the drive weighs about 270 g. Slated for early-July, it is expected to be priced at 27,720 JPY (US $349).
