My idle temps for my Gigabyte 1660 super are around 54 c nowadays when i remebr it being around the mid to high 40s, not sure what caused it to increase idle temps, its not OC. Haven't tweaked any setting so im not sure what's causing this.

Idle fan? it means the fans dont kick in until the GPU hits 60c which does result in higher idle temps but obviously lower noise and less stress on the fans as opposed to running all the time

You can check using MSI afterburner or GPU-Z to monitor the fans behaviour when the GPU is idle.

Thank you for clearing things up, i did notice fans didn't kick in till around 55 c, so just making sure those idle temps are normal for a 1660 super?

just monitor them when your playing a game, if they remain idle until a certain threshold and then kick in when the GPU is taxed and it remains under 85c then that is normal behaviour

When a GPU card is idle it should have the fan stopped and temp around or under 40C, if ambient/case temperature is in reasonable levels. Modern GPUs from nVidia or AMD are pulling around 10W when idling, and much less or even 0 W for VRAM.
@Calvin292 you should check if anything that you dont know loads the GPU core or any part of the card.

HWiNFO is a way to inpect the card and/or the system in general.

I know I have a different GPU but this will give you an idea...

I seem to recall that a high idle temperature is actually rather important (achieved by keeping the fan slow at idle) as then the temperature variations are smaller and thermal cycling less, as it is often the solder than fails due to thermal fatigue.
