Hello everyone

CHECK SYSTEM SPECS

i've owned my Graphics card for around 7 months now, when i bought it it was only like 4 months used by the previous owner.
anyway since i got it i've been facing random crashes in game and ONLY in games, i always get "video card/d3d/graphics card or whatever device removed" or mostly directx errors.
since then & i've been trying to fix the problem, at first a thought a got a bad GPU or a bad VRAM, so i started stress testing, i overclocked the hell outta that card and it'd run %100 stable at Unigine Heaven or Furmark forever, at the worst case scenario GPU temp would hit 70°C, mostly at 65-66°C, but at games... crashes at stock values, even underclocking didn't help.
It was obvious to me that it's a software issue, so i started trying to fix it.
There is literally NOTHING i haven't tried, i knew a fresh Windows installation would fix the problem but i just rly didn't wan't to reinstall Windows so i kept trying on the same installation i had, and here was the biggest disappointment i've ever had.
When i lost hope i just thought it' s rly time to start from scratch.
so i had fresh installed Win 10 Home and started from scratch (i switched from Pro to Home btw) aaaaaand boom.... literally like i had done NOTHING, i've rly lost hope and gave up on it.

any help from you guys would be appreciated.

can't express how sad i am that i've owned this card for this long now and still didn't get to game and have fun with it

I have a feeling it's your RAM, not the graphics card. Sadly older Corsair LPX memory is notoriously bad when paired with Ryzen CPUs.

When it crashes it just shuts off the game and if it gave an error its always related to the graphics card or video drivers or directx, sometimes both of my monitors would go off when the game crashes and become like if the Nvidia Driver is trying to recover, they'd turn back on in a few seconds anyway.

i'm pretty sure my RAMs are running super stable, they can go forever under stress using Prime95 (small FTTs) with no errors, warnings or crashings at all, same for my CPU or them both together.

Bullshit. It is just a matter of tinkering with the timings, just like doing any kind of OC. JEDEC should work fine anything else wasn't guaranteed in the first place. On my older X99 XMP didn't work either. So what's to blame?

I tend to think it is the GPU. The fact it is stable at max clock, doesn't exclude instability at lower power levels, less voltage. The only way is to swap components around and see when the problem ceases to be.

infact it always seems to tend to crash more under heavy games that pushes the GPU to its limit.

You could borrow another PSU for test too, yours ain't really stellar.

I have to agree that Corsair and Ryzen together have a bad track record as evidenced by numerous threads about system problems with Ryzen and Corsair RAM ran together but in this particualr instance it could be something else.
It's possible but at the same time it's not an absolute.

I also agree with the above, the PSU itself could be causing all the issues.

Guys if it's the PSU then why wouldn't it cause any problems when both GPU and CPU are under load simultaneously?
btw PSU isn't old it wasn't bought that far before i got the Graphics card. its like a year and half old.

This all points to RAM issues. Try running the RAM with XMP off at default 2133 JEDEC spec for DDR4. I would also recommend running TestMem5, or MemTest86 for at least 1 pass.

The kit you have may very well not play well with Ryzen. Zen+'s IMC is also not as good as Zen 2's.

There are newer Vengeance LPX kits that play nicer with Ryzen, but I doubt yours likes your CPU. Countless of posts about Vengeance LPX messing with Ryzen, not just on here but on pretty much any tech forum and Reddit. It's usually older kits too, like yours.

It's why I have adamantly avoided using Vengeance LPX on any Ryzen build, including mine, I also had issues. All issues gone once I switched to G.Skill.

I'm not, PC won't boot with XMP on, they're set at whats mentioned in my system specs manually, tried going back to 2133MHz (resetting BIOS) and that didn't help either.

Sorry? It's a fact, older Corsair LPX memory have issues with Ryzen CPUs. Can you get it to work? Sure, but it can be a real hassle and there's a chance you're going to have glitches like this.
I could never get my 3200MHz modules to run at the rated speed, the closest I got was 3000, although most of the time they would only run at 2933 and all this was with relaxed timings.

Even if a single error pops up, invest in some G.Skill 2 x 8 GB 3200 MHz CL16 RAM instead (exact part number, which IS on your board's QVL list: F4-3200C16D-16GVKB) and save yourself the headaches.

I would also like to point out that Ryzen does not like odd CAS latency. (15, 17 instead of 16, 18)

It's actually quite funny to me that my current kit is already listed on my board's QVL, the difference is that the one thats listed is ver5.30 while mine is ver5.39.

I would also like to point out that Ryzen does not like odd CAS latency. (15, 17 instead of 16, 18)
i Couldn't go as low as 15 (which is what the kit is rated for "C15" ) but its stable at 16.

i'll try to go to 17 and see how things go.

i'm still pretty sure issues are not caused by my RAMs but i'll do it anyway its ok.

Just out of curiosity, have you tried this?
It's not perfect and most likely even less so with your RAM, but it might find some setting that you're missing.
You might also need Thaiphoon Burner to figure out the DRAM chips.

So I hear. But it's been a case for a long time where people tell others to go with a different brand of RAM becasue Corsair just don't cut it with Ryzen CPU's.
Mine is running fine, that's why I asked.

Edit: I see the OP has Hynix chips.

You reside the LPX in your system as I do? I can clock my RAM to 3600MHz at stupid high timings and 1.5V, but what's the point doing that? I settled to 3200 and called it a day as I have to have super high tRFC to be stable, it ain't Sammy B die for sure, but ain't spending money on DDR4 anymore. On older 5960X it didn't even boot on XMP, max it did was 2933MHz with some odd multis.

I would agree, that actually LPX RAM was hit or miss on any platform not glorifying any specific AMD or intel, the problem relies in timing disparities. And each number actually resided different IC's. Same model different memories, it created a chaos, but you cannot blame it as bad RAM. It works fine just as any RAM if properly set. Or you expect RAM that came around 2014 to work properly on any recent device you plug it in? You expect issues as a norm.

Don't use that DRAM calculator. It is useless on most parts. It does not work on older Micron D die at all, it gives nonsense timings. It works on most parts fine only on B die and CJR's. The tool is unusable on Ryzen 5xxx series also. Trial and error on your specific system and linpack the hell out of it.
