Already tried 2 blank DVDs- will wait for suggestions before i try another

From my not-at-all-technical point of view, it's either the dvds that are defective, or the burner. Do you have any other type of discs that you can burn, like rw discs, just to see if they are burning right?

Also, how old is the unit and how much has it been used?

Oh, and have you tried burning at a lower speed, like 4x? Sometimes it's all it takes.

Burner is DELL OEM and ..hmm.. from summer of 2008 lol
trying this at 2x speed. see how that turns out.
I've been looking around and it seems burner compatibility may also be a case.
If that Is the case- he'll just have to get a new burner.

Well that didn't work either.
keep getting the same errors ... when tis verifying...
at around 50% it would give me the same error. A new burner may be warranted

More than likely the burner is on its way out.

Though it seems to be failing during the verification, so it probably burned fine but can't read the disc. I would bet the disc is readable on another computer.
