In which order do ASUS Maximus boards rank?

Wondering how the various ASUS boards stack up, like which one typically has the most to offer versus the least in terms of options: Extreme, Formula, Apex, Apex Encore, Hero, Dark Hero and Hero BTF.

Extreme always has the "most", but it tends to double dip. Like if you want all M.2 slots, you must give up working USB ports, SATA and PCie slots.

Formula is the Hero but rebranded for "overclocking".

Apex is the best for OC CPU and Memory, but you give up pretty much everything else.

Hero is the higher end of the stack. It's 95% of a Extreme.

Hero Dark is just a mid cycle refresh..you got better memory support and WiFi 7

Strix is the best value of them all.

So out of the Formula and Hero, which would you pick of those 2?

This looks like a good article that explains the differences/ hierarchy:
That put things into a little perspective, much appreciated. Shame I can't find a complete breakdown of all the models though. I guess I'll just have to wait till Oct 10th and hope someone can help me figure it all out. I'm shooting for a Z890 and the 285k on the 24th.

you can't find any official information yet because it's not out yet. Everything related to the next Intel platform right now is leaked / rumors.

As I understand it, Extreme is basically self-explanatory (i.e having all the bells and whistles, fully pimped out, god-tier, whatever you wanna call it, really); Formula is mostly a rebranded Hero and aimed at those with custom water cooling rigs; Apex/Encore is pretty much an "extreme OCers only" board (there's a reason why you see ASUS always touting it when pursuing OCing records and such. It was basically built for that singular purpose); and the Hero/Dark Hero/Hero BTF is basically the "entry-level" when it comes to the Maximus series, which is crazy when you consider the price tag of the boards now.
